Born to a classically trained opera singer, Virginia native Brinn Black has been immersed in music since birth. Raised in the small town of Chester Virginia, Brinn grew up singing in the church, and in her high school choir. All she ever wanted to do was make music so when it came time to choose a college, the obvious choice was simple: Music City's Nashville, Tennessee. Brinn was influenced by artists such as Reba McEntire and Martina McBride, but Brinn wanted to find her own sound in the music world. She decided to major in songwriting and didn't waste any time getting down to business; writing with such writers as Doak Turner, Brandon Maddox, Julie Grower, Chrissy Wicks, Nick Donely, and David Lee Brown. When Brinn says "my life is truly blessed" she's right. At the young age of twenty she's had the amazing privilege to perform at multiple venues in Nashville, Virginia, as well as Texas. Brinn has recently finished her first self titled EP and will start her radio tour to promote the album in January. Brinn relies on a deep-seeded street team of fans and friends to promote her shows and usually has an incredible turnout for each performance. Drawing immediate comparisons to the Foo Fighters, Los Angeles' The Kite-Eating Tree uses guitar power and offbeat prose to shape Method Fail Repeat. If Mike Hunter's vocal performances are credible, his angst steals the show on tunes like "Hollywood Hates You" and the nonsensical "Softer Seems the Pavement." If the latter, the disc's opener, resembles Chavez, it's hardly a bad thing, with aggressive chording giving it and "Through the Width of a Straw" the kind of six-string force that has been absent since the passing of grunge. It's not exactly distinct, but from the punky "Hope Is a Passenger" to the melodic "Like Butterscotch," Method Fail Repeat is a solid, (and at ten songs) succinct album that brings the reliability back to alt-rock. ~ John D. True to its namesake, The Snow is a constantly changing form. It covers up what is ugly and painful and - at least temporarily - makes everything beautiful. The Snow began with Pierre de Gaillande and Hilary Downes when their relationship of many years was transformed into one of pure musical collaboration. Born in Paris, France and raised in California, Pierre started his New York musical adventure in power punk band the Morning Glories in the early 90s and went on to play with Melomane, Vic Chesnutt, and many others. At one point, Pierre began to supplement his income writing and recording made-to-order songs as wedding gifts. Ironically, these wedding songs became the first joint project of Pierre and Hilary.
