Although many music fans were convinced that Def Leppard would become hard rock's next big band, few could have predicted the massive across-the-boards success that its third record, 1983's PYROMANIA, achieved. Many wondered why it was taking the group so long to release a follow-up to 1981's HIGH 'N' DRY, but the finished product was well worth the wait. Not only did it become one of the year's best-selling albums and made the band instant U.S. arena headliners, but it has remained a consistent seller ever since (by 1994, it had reached nine million units in the U.S. alone).

As one of the pioneers in Tex-Mex music, Doug Sahm fused rock & roll, R&B, conjunto, and country. This posthumous release, containing some of the last recordings made before his death, finds Sahm focusing on the country part of that equation. As this disc makes plain, country music was a major part of Sahm's life and music, and these tracks are pure, dyed-in-the-wool honky-tonk in the grand old style. Most are original tunes, and "Oh No! Not Another One" shows Sahm's feelings about country by humorously expressing his dismay at the way pop posers have taken over the country music scene. "Texas Me" is an old Sahm staple, but it's given new life in this context.

TLEE & Babybrutha Chicago has a huge music background. From the gospel of Thomas Dorsey to the blues of Howlin Wolf and soul of Curtis Mayfield. Timothy Lee grew up surrounded by these sounds and stories. Born and raised on the west side of Chicago Tlee (he is known by friends) started his music training early. His father loved the blues and that’s all he listened to. “Howlin wolf’s voice was so powerful that it scared me at the age of 6 or 7.” Tlee is the youngest of 7 so he was constantly being forced to listen to the music of his siblings. Rufus, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Parliament were played as well as The Beatles, Kiss, The Eagles and Steely Dan. At the age of 10 Tlee remembers traveling with his older sister Deborah as she went to audition for a soul band. This audition was mesmerizing for him. “That was the first time I was in front of real guitars and drums and amps and it was amazing. These were heroes to me because they made music.” Tlee’s world would never be the same after that. After messing around with toy guitars he finally got a real one at 12. By the time he was a sophomore Chicago’s performing arts Metro high school he was playing in bands and writing songs.
