Laura Pausini, a multilingual Italian pop singer who won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, decided to record an album of cover songs when she returned to the studio to record her follow-up effort. This is a fairly standard practice for pop/rock artists, of course, especially in the wake of a mammoth success like the one Pausini experienced with Resta in Ascolto (released concurrently in Spanish as Escucha in the Americas). Yo Canto (likewise released concurrently in Spanish) is a somewhat unusual covers album, however, for it's comprised of Italian pop/rock songs from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s -- few, if any, of which will be familiar to listeners across the Atlantic. Pausini performs the songs in a manner similar to that of Resta in Ascolto: the songs are heavily produced, layered with guitar, bass, and drums in addition to strings and synthesizers, and the performances are quite dramatic, often soaring to intense heights during the choruses, complemented by lyrics that are moody and poetic. Dès son arrivée en Paris où il achève ses études en musicologie à l'université de Saint-denis, il réalise son premier concept (KERO'ZEN) en 1996 ; concept aux couleurs Asiatique où la Chinoise “Wei-wei” y officie. 6 mois plus tard, il enchaîne avec un autre concept du nom de (CAP LOVE) ou Patrick y chante le titre "MIRELLA". Le CAP LOVE vol. 2 arrive un an après ainsi que le concept KOUD'KE en 1998. On retiendra le titre "ELLE EST MON SOLEIL" qu'il interprète avec "JMC". Le 1er album solo qui fera connaître Patrick Andrey du public avec son tube "ISTWA AN MWEN" (plus de 20000 exemplaires vendus) sort en 2000. Et pour asseoir cette notoriété grandissante il réalise avec Jim Rama un autre concept du nom de FACE à FACE en 2001 (30000 pièces écoulées). Suivra le "Vol. 2" en 2003 (plus de 20000 exemplaires vendus) et le Vol.3 "Trinity" (plus de 15000 pièces en 2005). Ces trois albums ont eu un tel succès que Patrick reçoit des prix à Miami, aux Antilles, à l'île de la Réunion.
