| | Cab Calloway Hi De Ho Man CD Cab Calloway Discography of CDs
This double LP from 1974 is a bit brief, only including 20 performances by Cab Calloway and his orchestra (around an hour of music). Several periods are covered with titles from 1935 ("Nagasaki"), the 1938-42 period and nine fairly rare selections from 1945-47. Highpoints include "Jumpin' Jive," "Fifteen Minute Intermission," a 1941 version of "St. James Infirmary," "Hi De Ho Man" and a 1942 rendition of "Minnie the Moocher." On the later tracks Calloway tries to adapt his sound to rhythm & blues but, despite his best efforts, his orchestra would not survive the 1940s. The earlier titles have been reissued on CD by the Classics label and hopefully Columbia will get around to compiling a more generous Cab Calloway package in the future. The music on this two-fer is generally not classic but will be found enjoyable by his fans. ~ Scott Yanow

$18.79 This CD contains B.B. King's first ABC-Paramount studio efforts -- Mr. Blues (1962) and Confessin' the Blues (1965), respectively. While there are inevitable similarities between the projects, offering them back-to-back allows listeners an acute sense of King's rapid maturation and development during what was by all accounts the nexus of the guitarist/vocalist's career. The dozen-song Mr. Blues was a haphazard start for King with the contents taken from three different recording sessions in a 13-month period (March 1, 1962 through April 11, 1963). Based on the results, the artist was being presented as a blues shouter, supported by ...

$13.85 John "Rabbit" Bundrick is best known as the keyboardist who played with British hard-rockers Free and later became pretty much a fifth member of the Who, but he released two under-the-radar solo albums in the mid-1970s. Deserving of more attention, both of those albums are included here, and are sure to satisfy fans of classic British rock. Bundrick is aided on various tracks by Free bassist Tetsu Yamauchi and members of '70s Britrock outfits Stray Dog and Paul Kossoff's Back Street Crawler.
2008 release containing two early '70s albums from the Rock keyboardist on one CD. Considering John 'Rabbit' Bundrick's reputation and high profile career, playing keyboards with everyone from Free and Bob Marley right up to The Who, it's amazing that ...
