Purchase Aldo Nova CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Scorpions Blackout CD (1982)
Aldo Nova album
$6.49 Blackout was the Scorpions' first majorly successful album, due to its clever balance of pop/rock (the title track), power ballads ("When the Smoke Is Going Down"), and catchy heavy metal ("Dynamite," "No One Like You"). Vocalist Klaus Meine had a throat operation prior to the record's release, and surprisingly, his voice sounds more melodic and lively than ever. The rest of the band sounds great as well, and the album is highlighted by the fast-paced performances of guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs. Blackout has arguably been called the Scorpions' best ...
| | Styx Paradise Theater CD (1981)
Aldo Nova CD music
$7.49 PARADISE THEATER was arguably the last great Styx album, as the rift between Dennis DeYoung's balladry and the more hard-hitting approach of James Young and Tommy Shaw hadn't yet wreaked havoc on the group's output. There's a vague concept about the tearing down of an old theater, but as with most concept albums, the songs are the important thing.
"Rockin' The Paradise" is one of the group's most effective rockers and most substantial group efforts (its one of the few songs written by all three of the band's composers). Tommy Shaw brings his pop sensibilities to the fore on the ridiculously catchy (and hugely successful) ...

| | Voivod Dimension Hatross CD (1988)
Aldo Nova songs
$10.39 Released nearly two years after the transitional Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss is the first album where Voivod's experimental metal is explored from beginning to end. Shedding the clichéd lyrics that the band relied on for their first two releases, they're thankfully replaced by much more thought-provoking lyrics. The group has also grown as musicians -- guitarist Denis d'Amour is one of metal's finest, the rhythm section of Michel Langevin on drums and Jean-Yves Theriault on bass is tighter than ever, and vocalist Denis Belanger sings more conventionally (no more shrieking). ...
| | Saxon Dogs Of War CD (1995)
Aldo Nova album
$10.89 Though early-'90s albums like Solid Ball of Rock and Forever Free showed encouraging signs that New Wave of British Heavy Metal stalwarts Saxon still had a few aces left in their deck, a three-year recording hiatus, and another independent label change hardly foreshadowed an imminent return to full-strength. And yet the bums from Barnsley came damn close to achieving just that with their next effort, 1995's Dogs of War, which, as well as a positively thunderous title track for the ages, featured a slew of winning numbers like the biker anthem "Big Twin Rolling (Coming Home)," the ominous "Great White Buffalo" (not the Ted Nugent song), and the slate-cleaning mission statement of "Yesterday's Gone." In fact, there wasn't an outright dud in sight (OK, "Walking Through Tokyo" kinda sucked), and it's fair to say the album hit home with a level of confidence and, most importantly, honesty. which Saxon hadn't displayed since their glory days. No more mindless arena rock anthems and sappy-ass ballads for the American market, no more bullsh*t, just straight-ahead heavy metal for their long suffering faithful, and a fitting last call for longtime guitarist Graham Oliver, who bowed out ...
