| | Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow CD (1967) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
World Gone Wrong CD music
$6.09 This newly remastered 2003 deluxe edition contains bonus tracks.
Originally released on RCA Victor (3766). Includes liner notes by Jeff Tamarkin and Bill Thompson.
From the opening, hard-edged chords of "She Has Funny Cars," it's apparent that SURREALISTIC PILLOW, Jefferson Airplane's sophomore effort, is a far more spiky beast than the band's debut. It became not only San Francisco's soundtrack to the Summer Of Love, but all of America's. It spawned two Top Ten classics ("Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit") and established the Airplane as one of the main pop voices of the cultural revolution.
Some of the newfound dynamism can be attributed to personnel changes. Singer-keyboardist Grace Slick, who joined the Airplane following a stint in the mildly successful Great Society, had a unique artistic gleam her predecessor, Signe Anderson, never possessed--both of the aforementioned hits were songs she'd written for her former band. And new drummer Spencer Dryden could make the music shake with heretofore-unheard polyrhythms, or walk ...
| | Bob Dylan Blood On The Tracks CD (1975) Reissue; Remastered
World Gone Wrong music CDs
$9.59 By the mid-'70s, even Dylan's most ardent supporters began taking his artistic decline for granted. Albums like NEW MORNING and PLANET WAVES were fine works, but lacked the visionary spark of his seminal '60s recordings. At 34 he was already being written off as a has-been. That presumption is what made BLOOD ON THE TRACKS such a glorious sucker-punch of a record.
One of Dylan's most mournful efforts, this album, which easily ranks among his best, is ...
| | Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited CD (1965) Reissue; Remastered
World Gone Wrong songs
$6.25 Recorded in Columbia Studios, New York, New York in June-August 1965.
Though 1966's BLONDE ON BLONDE is usually singled out as the most innovative Bob Dylan album, its predecessor HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED is the one that definitively marks Dylan's transformation from progressive folk singer to visionary rock poet. It's Dylan's first fully electric album, powered by the manic intensity of Mike Bloomfield's skull-and-crossbones blues-rock guitar leads and Al Kooper's rich organ fills.
While many of the songs are presented in a traditional 12-bar blues format, the lyrics ...

| | Sue Raney Volume II CD (2004)
World Gone Wrong music CDs
$13.15 Sue Raney, who has always had a beautiful voice, first gained some recognition for her work in jazz and popular music in the late 1950s. She has been a fixture in Los Angeles ever since, becoming a well-known vocal coach and teacher in addition to continuing her solo career. The second volume of previously unreleased material from Studio West features Raney in four different settings. Nine selections team her with a quartet led by pianist Page Cavanaugh that perfectly fits her singing. Two songs have her joined by Page 7 (a septet led by Cavanaugh), there are five numbers with a quartet co-led by clarinetist Buddy DeFranco and accordionist Tommy Gumina, and the remaining four selections are with the 1970 version of Shelly Manne & His Men. The performances are usually brief but Raney takes advantage of each moment, stretching her ...

| | Ripp Donn's Ragga Hip Hop 101 CD (2006)
World Gone Wrong album
$13.89 Q&A with Ripp Donn After hearing three songs from the up and comer Ripp Donn I was thoroughly amazed at the skill level of this vocalist/producer. The thumping beats and spitfire rap flow proved to be exciting as well as very entertaining. This is a short Q&A with the new Hip Hop Reggae wonder.Q. So how long have you been making music? How did you start out?A. Well, I actually started making beats for other artists about 1995. Back then I felt some people weren’t taking music very seriously so I decided to go about it on my own. I became my own artist.Q. I really like those beats, and the lyrics too. Who is behind your music? Do you write?A. Thanks. Yeah, that's my music. I'm glad you said that because I didn't sample much, although I believe sampling is a staple of Hip Hop the whole clearance process can be a drag . I do write all of my lyrics. Most Guests in my songs usually write their own unless I'm enlisted to help.Q. Who are your musical influences? Who do you compare yourself to?A. Growing up there was Bob Marley of course, Peter Tosh and all the old Reggae my parents used to play. Later I got into Hip Hop and was most impressed by Slick Rick, KRS-ONE, Tribe ...

| | Juldeh Camara Tell No Lies CD (2009)
World Gone Wrong songs
$14.35 It's hard not to approach an album like this with some trepidation. Guitarist Justin Adams works in tandem with Gambian griot Juldeh Camara to create grooves that consciously blend the sounds of American rock and blues with those of West African traditional music; Camara plays the riti (a one-stringed spike fiddle), and the bologo (a sort of two-stringed banjo), and sings, while Adams accompanies on guitars and occasional percussion and keyboard. The duo are on the record as being enthusiastic about the fact that so much of their music ...
