Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles In a futuristic world, the Western Nations of the Earth secretly launch a space rocket to explore a mysterious planet revolving around the sun. The flight appears to run smoothly until a premature crash-landing forces the astronauts out of their chemically-induced sleep. Awake and disoriented, the astronauts attempt to complete their exploration, and are shocked to discover that this strange planet could be the Earth's mirror image -- they even find their own doubles. But when they return home, what they find is even worse.... When scientists a hundred years in the future discover a "duplicate" Earth on the other side of the sun, they are determined to find out what this new world is like, and set up an expedition to reach the new planet. Filmed in Technicolor. Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun Reviews: "[T]he film's simple, lunatic conceit is intriguing, and Wymark in particular wrings his exposition-heavy scenes for every last drop of dramatic juice."-- Tom Charity, Sight and Sound Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun | List Price | $19.98 (You save $6.39) | | Studio | Universal Studios Home Video | | Orig Year | 1969 | | DVD Encoding | Region 1 | | All Time Sales Rank | 15738 | | CD Universe Part number | 7653475 | | Catalog number | 61026038 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Jun 24, 2008 | | Rating | G (MPAA) | | Running Time | 102 Minutes | | Additional Info | Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled | | Movie Details | Color; Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled |
Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun Movie Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) Interesting classic This is not your typical classic sci fi movie.Very strange story and great acting from Roy Thinnes as always. If you are looking for action, monsters and suspense you will not find it here. Its more of a drama and a thinking movie. Unusual Sci-Fi Movie Although this movie was made a number of years ago, watching it again reminded me what a really great movie it is. The plot is fairly simple, suggesting the existence of a duplicate planet of earth out of sight on the opposite side of the sun. There were no monsters, no ET's, nothing endeavoring to destroy either the astronauts or the earth.
There was a wonderful cast, beginning with Roy Thinnes who actually lands on the sister planet, and finds everything on earth duplicated, including the people. Since anything written, and other things, were all in reverse, it could not be determined if, in order to return to his planet whether or not his small take-off vehicle would connect to the main ship, if the polarity was not the same.
In order to know the final determination, you will have to see the movie yourself, but it will be well-worth the purchase price and can hold its own with any scie-fi movie made before or since. See for yourself! Submitted by jenny6664 (Brooklyn, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$14.79 This gleefully deranged cult favorite marked the feature debut of Jack Hill (COFFY, THE SWITCHBLADE SISTERS) and one of the final screen appearances of horror icon Lon Chaney Jr. The story takes place at the home of the Merrye family, victims of a strange disease that degenerates its victims to a pre-human, cannibal state. The sole remaining survivors are the family ...

Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun DVD
$10.35 Much like 28 DAYS LATER, THE SIGNAL is a zombie film in disguise asking the question, "What would you do if everyone suddenly turned psychotic?" Conceived by Atlanta filmmakers Jacob Gentry, Dan Bush, and David Bruckner as an exercise in which each would write and direct one of three acts, the result is an experimental and apocalyptic horror tale with a for-fans-by-fans mentality that is cerebral and visceral, both disturbing and thought-provoking. In the first segment, it is New Year's Eve in the city of Terminus, and Mya (Anessa Ramsey) has just begun an extramarital affair with Ben (Justin Welborn). As she leaves his apartment, he turns on the television to witness a noisy and colorful swirl. The mysterious transmission affects all television, radio, and cell phone signals, causing normal citizens to transform into bloodthirsty killers. By the time Mya reaches her apartment, her building is littered with corpses, and her husband, Lewis (A.J. Bowen), shows the first signs of the condition, causing Mya to flee for safety. Part two is a bleak domestic comedy in which Lewis, searching ...
