| | Dwight Yoakam Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room CD Dwight Yoakam Discography of CDs
Dwight Yoakam's third album, 1988's BUENAS NOCHES FROM A LONELY ROOM, finds the Kentucky-born country singer turning in his most adventurous and eclectic record up to that point. Here Yoakam wanders beyond the boundaries of HILLBILLY DELUXE's straight-up honky-tonk territory, even incorporating a Tex-Mex aesthetic with the presence of accordion master Flaco Jimenez. While the opener, "I Got You," sticks closely to Yoakam's twangy signature sound, "Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room (She Wore Red Dresses)" presents a cinematic narrative that reveals a more ambitious musical vision and showcases Jimenez's deft playing.
Among the cover tunes on BUENAS NOCHES are a rocked-out reading of Johnny Cash's "Home of the Blues" and a stellar take on the Bucks Owens hit "Streets of Bakersfield," which features a rare appearance by Owens himself. Tied together by Yoakam's effortless charm and unmistakable vocals, the record is an assured outing by an artist fully committed to working outside of his comfort zone, and the results make for a thoroughly rewarding album.
Personnel includes: Dwight Yoakam (vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion); Buck Owens, Maria McKee (vocals); Pete Anderson (acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, bass, percussion); Al Perkins (dobro); Scott Joss (mandolin); Don Reed (fiddle); Flaco Jiminez (accordion); Taras Prodaniuk, Dusty Wakeman (bass); Jeff Donovan (drums); Jim Lauderdale, Brantley Kearns (background vocals).
The Lonesome Strangers: Jeff Rymes, Randy Weeks (vocals).

Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room CD music
$11.99 1989's BACK ON THE BLOCK is a producer's record in every sense of the word. Although he produced and arranged every track, Quincy Jones is rarely front and center on his own album. Instead, every track is jazzed up--and souled up and rocked up and popped up--by a galaxy of guest stars. The range is remarkable; any album that can bring together Ella Fitzgerald and Ice-T has to have something going for it. That something is Jones's uncanny ability to match artists and songs; few other producers would have thought of a Ray Charles and Chaka Khan duet, and having that song be the exhilarating "I'll Be Good To You" is just lagniappe. Jones's jazz roots show proudly throughout, most particularly on the slinky bossa nova groove of "Septembro (Brazilian Wedding Song)" and the celebratory tribute "Birdland." However, BACK ON THE BLOCK is really a concept album about the 20th century evolution of African-American music.

| | Esther Phillips Alone Again (Naturally) CD (1972)
Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room songs
$12.29 Originally released in 1972, ALONE AGAIN, NATURALLY is a fine album by the eclectic and talented soul star Esther Phillips. Helmed by jazz producer Creed Taylor, and recorded with an all-star cast of fusion, soul, and jazz artists including George Benson, Maceo Parker, Ron Carter, and Billy Cobham, this is the early 1970s Creed Taylor sound adapted to pop and soul music, putting Phillips' impassioned vocals in slick, mellow soul-jazz grooves.
Recorded in late 1972, "Alone Again Naturally" was the follow-up to Esther's "From A Whisper To A Scream". ...

Search "Bass Line Dada" at youtube.com!Bass Line Dada started in a University dorm room with the poems of Daniel Ari nee Fleischmann set over walking bass lines by Steve Holzberg. First gig was a house party in San Francisco, and we’ve been big at house parties ever since. In 1997, Paul McNees, multi-instrumentalist joined up to add more dada to the dada. Chris Westland came in with his top-notch guitars and keys around 1998 and oversaw the recording of our first record Shoulder of a Hungry Man. In the final sessions for that album, we jammed with Joe Lee (he’s on the “hidden” track). Soon after Joe rounded out the quintet. We played house parties as well as clubs in the Bay Area. Other projects, including babies, drew Chris and Paul away from the performing group, but the tight trio of Daniel (now on accordion), Steve and Joe continued ...
