A widowed ranch owner (Walter Huston) finds himself at odds with his headstrong daughter (Barbara Stanwyck) in the 1950 film. Bonuses: commentary, interviews, stills gallery, film essay. Director Anthony Mann's dark, psychological western tells the story of a ranch owner T.C. Jeffords (Walter Huston) at odds with his upstart daughter Vanca (Barbara Stanwyck) over matters of marriage and ultimately land. The mythic grandeur of the Wild West is superimposed with the the soul-churning struggles of Greek tragedy in this unusually intense frontier film. THE FURIES' stark black-and-white cinematography was nominated for an Academy Award. $16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of how Jewel led him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking ...

$9.85 Blake Edwards's return to the male-in-meltdown territory he explored in 10 and THAT'S LIFE stars John Ritter as unemployed writer Zach, who is not only suffering from writer's block, but his drinking is out of control, as is his obsessive womanizing, and, not surprisingly, his wife wants to end their marriage. To add to his problems, his house has just burned down, and his agent is knocking at death's door. But since this is a Blake Edwards comedy, Zach has enough charm and relative affluence to continue his pursuits, which the director regards with a bemused deatchment. One of his girlfriends sets his piano on fire, and another gets him to ...

Furies review
$13.45 A sequel 20 years in the making, TWISTED ILLUSIONS 2 is another ultra-independent anthology horror film. Three directors, all of whom are experienced veterans in the genre, present their short films. The first is "Betrayal," directed by John Bowker. It is a tale of a cheating boyfriend, and the vengeance his girlfriend wreaks upon him. Actor Joel Wynkoop made the second, "The Part." Wynkoop plays a released murderer who has taken up acting as a way of channeling his excess energy. But when the director of a horror film encourages him to take up a bit of method acting, terror results. Finally, Tim Ritter directs the thriller "Dexter Deadbeat." Dexter is a creep who is relentlessly stalking a woman for a reason only he can fathom. All three films in TWISTED ILLUSIONS 2 follow in the independent horror film tradition that its predecessor helped jumpstart.
Twenty Years ago, Tim Ritter and Joel D. Wynkoop unleashed a little video anthology called TWISTED ILLUSIONS that helped ...

$20.95 A divorced, middle-aged filmmaker (Milian) searching for a leading lady to star in his next feature comes to realize that he has been subconsciously utilizing this task to instead find a new lover. Being a little over ambitious, he manages to become romantically involved with two women. An atmospheric, erotic love story from acclaimed Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni (ZABRISKIE POINT, RED DESERT, BLOW-UP) who won the 35th Anniversary Prize at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival for this film.
One of acclaimed Italian director, Michelangelo Antonioni's later films, Identification of a Woman is an atmospheric, erotically charged, and visually stunning work set in Venice. He later comes to the self-realisation that he is abusing this task to instead find himself a new lover. He then over-zealously manages to become involved with not one, but two women. And after an initial attempt at juggling these relationships, the filmmaker is instead left alienated and confused when one of the women mysteriously disappears, and the other becomes pregnant by another man. Mr. Bongo Films presents another masterpiece from its tribute series to Michelangelo Antonioni - who won the 35th Anniversary Prize at the Cannes Films Festival in 1982, and was nominated for a Golden Palm.
