The Dusseldorf-based techno outfit's debut full-length is low-key and relaxing, with updated 1970s and `80s keyboard sounds predominating. "The Sounds of Insects, Birds and Animals" is insistent and pulsating, propelled by diffracted vintage beat-box rhythms, while "The Longest Moment (Still Lasting)" is a comforting loop of chiming electric piano that sounds like the aural equivalent of an Alexander Calder mobile. 23S Bolivias Songs | 1. | Sweatshirts + Sweatshops |

Bolivias album
$15.05 When Jonas Bering followed up Bienfait a few months after release with the Emballages 12", it was apparent that the Frenchman was beginning to develop a thicker, fuller, more dance-oriented sound -- a sound that was also beginning to shed the inspirations that were previously perceptible to a fault. This progression continued up to the release of Sketches for the Next Season; another pair of Kompakt twelves -- including Normandie, one of the label's best of 2003 -- along with an excellent release for Logarythm (as En:no) and a contribution to Sentrall's Drive the Five series ("Down to Big Sur," a shuffle-tech track on par with the best Schaffelfieber entries) all paved the way. With the exception of "Normandie 1," Sketches for the Next Season is made up from all-new material, and though its formatting lends itself to home listening, it's a lot more likely to induce bodily movements than Bienfait. Once upon a time, Bering's basslines were deliberate and perceptible, if not ...
| | Kaito Hundred Million Love Years CD (2006) (Import) Germany
Bolivias CD music
$15.05 After the charm of Kaito's first disc won over the hearts of trance music naysayers and won favor with the hard-hearted ambient purists via the beatless version of the album, Kompakt began a mild onslaught of releases exploring the melodic, epic side of techno that bordered on progressive house/trance. Many of these records infused the spirit and romanticism of early Detroit releases with the dramatic arrangements of European electronic music from the early '90s. And while a few hit the mark dead on, there were others that never really captured the formula quite as well as Kaito. So with Hundred Million Light Years, Kaito retains that blueprint and expands further upon his musical vocabulary to keep things moving in a progressive direction (progressive in the evolutionary sense, not the stylistic). The album's ...

$10.59 RUSTED ROOT BIOAfter being celebrated for more than a decade for its consistently riveting live show, Rusted Root is releasing its first live album, a two-disc set featuring the new songs "Jack Kerouac", "Ecstatic Drums" and a cover of Neil Young's "Powderfinger."Rusted Root Live will be released November 16th on the band's Touchy Pegg/DKE Records and features 22 songs that span the group's more than 12-year-old career, ranging from such early faves-turned live staples as "Cruel Sun," "Ecstasy", "Martyr", Cat Turned Blue" and the hit single "Send Me On My Way" (all from 1992's Cruel Sun) to the pretty "Blue Diamonds" and the rousing title track from the band's last studio effort, 2002's Welcome To My Party.Veering, like each Rusted Root album, into Eastern and African directions, the electrifying and powerfully rhythmic Rusted Root Live features the Pittsburgh-born band's original line-up: Michael Glabicki (lead vocals, guitar), Jenn Wertz (vocals, guitars, percussion), Liz Berlin (vocals, guitars, percussion), Jim Donovan (drums, percussion, vocals), Patrick Norman (bass, guitar, baritone vocals, percussion) and John Buynak (electric guitar, percussion, flute). The band's sixth album, Rusted Root Live is the second album on its Touchy Pegg label, following the re-release of Cruel Sun in 2003, after a long tenure with Mercury/Island Def Jam.Formed in Pittsburgh by frontman Glabicki in the early '90s, Rusted Root's polyrhythmic style quickly charmed fans of roots music and jam rock. But clubgoers weren't the only ones left smitten by the sextet's impressively diverse chops and soaring vocals. After debuting in 1992 with Cruel Sun, Rusted Root signed with Mercury Records and bowed on the label with the 1994 platinum selling breakthrough When I Woke, which featured the light and lovable "Send Me On My Way," as well as several other rerecorded tracks from Cruel Sun. Not long after, the band scored on tours with Toad the Wet Sprocket, Santana, The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, HORDE Festival and, perhaps most notably, the highly-coveted support role on the landmark Jimmy Page/Robert Plant reunion tour. Playing a brand of rock rooted in the Woodstock generation, but often taking detouring into various types of world music, the hard-touring Rusted Root returned in 1996 with Remember (represented on Rusted Root Live with the tracks "Voodoo," "Heaven" ...
