The brilliantly titled second album by confessional singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright (sister of Rufus, daughter of Loudon and Kate McGarrigle) catapults her to a new artistic level, alongside the likes of Neko Case, Cat Power, and Aimee Mann as a soul-baring but still-in-control and observant singer-songwriter. Covers of Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" (stripped down but in keeping with the playful spirit of Syd Barrett's original) and the Eurythmics' "Love Is A Stranger" (which works surprisingly well as a countrified hoedown) round out these 14 well-crafted, smart, and witty tracks.
