Long before her prolific blues career and film and stage appearances, British singer Dana Gillespie released a handful of albums during the mid- and late-1960s folk revival. Gillespie's pre-feminist but hardly waifish take on folk foretells her future as a brassy, no-nonsense blues mama. This 40th anniversary reissue of her 1968 album features several bonus tracks.
2008 digitally remastered reissue of the rare Pye Records debut album from the singer/songwriter featuring six bonus tracks: 'Donna Donna', 'It's No Use Saying It', 'Thank You Boy', 'You're A Heartbreak Man', 'Pay You Back With Interest', and 'Adam Can You Beat That'. Forum's only album -- 1967's The River Is Wide -- is notable for its connection to exotica guru Les Baxter, who produced, arranged, and composed four tracks. Baxter also contributed liner sleeve notes for this highly collectible LP, which describes how he witnessed a folk performance on-stage in a Pasadena, CA, club by the leader of the trio, Phil Campos. Campos soon became a student of Baxter's and also became one of Les Baxter's Balladeers, appearing on that folk group's self-titled Reprise album in 1961.
