Dokken: Mick Brown (vocals, drums); Don Dokken (vocals); Jonathan Levin (guitar); Barry Sparks (bass guitar). Personnel: Wyn Davis (keyboards). Audio Mixer: Wyn Davis. Recording information: Chop Shop, Hollywood, CA; Total Access Studios, Redondo Beach, CA. Dokken always stood apart from the typical 1980s pop metal din, combining solid musicianship and well-crafted songwriting. While the current incarnation of the band does not include original members guitarist George Lynch and bassist Jeff Pilson, LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN is a long overdue return to form. Current guitarist Jon Levin expertly recreates the nearly inimitable Lynchisms that defined the classic Dokken sound. Fans of 1985's UNDER LOCK AND KEY and 1987's BACK FOR THE ATTACK are sure to appreciate this exciting new era of a great band. Sometimes when main members exit rock bands, the group's sound changes significantly. This has not proven to the case with melodic metallists Dokken. Although six-string hero George Lynch was a major part of the group's initial success, his 1997 departure hasn't proven to alter the group's sound as much as originally believed, as evidenced by such subsequent post-Lynch releases as 2008's Lightning Strikes Again. In fact, from a production, sonic, and songwriting standpoint, the album could have been released in 1986, and Dokken's legion of hair-sprayed/fingerless leather glove-wearing fans would have undoubtedly snapped it up. Frontman Don Dokken still sings about love gone bad ("How I Miss Your Smile") while guitarist Jonathan Levin offers Lynch-esque riffs and solos by the bucket load (the album opening "Standing on the Outside"). Sure, you'll have heard it all before if you're a longtime Dokken fan. But with the resurgence of '80s metal sounds in the early 21st century, Dokken are no dummies, and they wisely stick to the sound that made them famous in the first place throughout Lightning Strikes Again. ~ Greg Prato Lightning Strikes Again Music Dokken Lightning Strikes Again Songs | 1. | Standing on the Outside |

| Lightning Strikes Again Music Lightning Strikes Again Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Back to basics This is a very good Dokken CD; even though half of the original line-up is gone. Takes you back to the mid 80's to early 90's kind of material. Solid!, Dokken should be around for a good while. Hope for a tour w/ this material. Submitted by roloseb (Houston. Back to the 80's Style I have to say this is a continue of Back for the Attack. The chorus sounds the same as the 80. Jon Levin plays the guitar like George Lynch. The only thing that we need is the Don's old voice reaching high notes. But I guaratee you that...if you want to listen again the old Dokken don't hesitate to buy this album. Believe me. It is not the same than Devil to Pay or Long Way Home Submitted by jafl71 (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Dokken Still Rockin! I have been a huge 80's fan for a really long time still am today, and Dokken have always been a favorite of mine! Despite the fact that original members guitarist George Lynch & bassist Jeff Pilson are no longer in the band I am still a true Dokken fan. Their latest album Lightning Strikes Again sees the band returning to it's classic sound! Guitarist Jon Levin showcases his incredible guitar playing while bassist Barry Sparks, and longtime drummer "Wild" Mick Brown lay down the rhythm section of some of the best Dokken songs ever made! Don Dokken's voice may not sound like it did back when he first started but he is still able to take these songs, and turn them into some truly classic hard rock gems! In a time when their is nothing but rap & hip hop taking over the airwaves it's nice to see that true 80's bands are still around, and continuing to make great music! Awesome!! This album is would have fit right in after Back for the Attack. The new guitarist sounds a lot like George Lynch, and there are a lot of catchy riffs. Don's voice is a little scratchy on the higher notes, but who cares when the album is this hot! Submitted by Steve (Ontario, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Lightning Strikes Again
$14.69 Initial pressings of GOOD TO BE BAD included a bonus disc containing 7 live tracks and a video. Issued more than a decade after Whitesnake's previous studio outing, 2008's GOOD TO BE BAD finds frontman David Coverdale leading a band of new hard-rock recruits. Easily one of the heaviest albums recorded by the blooze-leaning British act, the album benefits from Coverdale's well-weathered vocals and the twin guitar work of Doug Aldrich (Dio) and Reb Beach (Winger, Dokken), as evinced on the fierce opener, "Best Years." Good to Be Bad marks Whitesnake's 30th anniversary as a band -- though frontman David ...

Lightning Strikes Again
$12.59 Personnel: Pete Repete (piano). Photographer: Michael Johansson. The last time White Lion issued a new studio album, the musical world was a very different place. Hair metal was still en vogue, but its death knell was rapidly approaching (with the arrival of Nirvana). The group collapsed soon after the lukewarm reception bestowed upon the release of 1991's Mane Attraction, and remained in hibernation until the late '90s, until singer Mike Tramp began touring under a few different White Lion-related names (such as "Remembering White Lion" and "Tramp's White Lion") and issuing live albums. But 2008's ...
