| | Deicide Till Death Do Us Part CD Deicide Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
One of death metal's original practitioners, Deicide have remained true believers in their own grisly anti-religion since 1987. The band is as heavy as ever 21 long years after forming, and the band's 2008 release, TILL DEATH DO US PART, is a prime example of classic full-bore Florida death action. Their hateful assault is still bolstered by devastatingly precise instrumental chops, and songs like the frantic "In the Eyes of God" sound like a dozen boxers on a speed bag in hell. Original members Glen Benton and Steve Asheim lock in on bass and drums respectively to create a scouring rhythm section, and Benton's trend-setting subterranean growls seem to promise madness and oblivion. The secret guitar melodies hidden among the chaos, however, are what make TILL DEATH DO US PART more than just a generic death metal album, as all the speed and complexity serve superior song craft.
Deicide: Glen Benton (vocals, bass instrument); Steve Asheim (guitar, drums); Ralph Santolla, Jack Owen (guitar).
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.49) - "This is the heaviest record Deicide have made. Musically, they've never sounded this intense..." Record Collector (magazine) (p.84) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his is infused with anger and pushed into new levels of extremity by the blastbeats of primary songwriter Steve Asheim....One of Deicide's best albums to date." uh.... I was very disappointed with this album. I didn't feel this album caught my attention like Stench of Redemption. A lot of the songs seem repetitive and boring. Lame riffs and song structure. It reminded me of Jack Owens lazy written songs in Cannibal Corpse's "The Wretched Spawn". Only a few songs were worth listening to. I never really liked Glen Benton's newer style of vocals. It always sounded like crap to me, and in this album he sounds horrible but that's just my opinion. Submitted by Josh (Los Angeles) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 3 found this helpful.
Meh album They had alot to uphold after TSOR, and they couldnt do it . This is by far the most generic death metal album I've heard this year. Submitted by srbrucker (kcmo) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 3 found this helpful.

Till Death Do Us Part album
$10.75 One of the most infamous and censored death metal bands ever, Cannibal Corpse celebrates their 10th album with one titular sentiment: KILL. That's pretty much what it does, too. KILL reminds us who put the death in death metal, combining relentless and intense sounds with lyrics that couple Grand Guignol thrills with slasher-film imagery. Wiry, almost progressive time and tempo shifts choke out the intense riffage and bend it into dramatic extremes, as evidenced on "Five Nails in the Neck" and the assaultive introduction of "Brain Removal Police," exacting and technical in its delivery, ...

| | Saxon Live At Donington 1980 CD (1997) (Import) United Kingdom
Till Death Do Us Part songs
$16.19 Recorded live at the Monsters Of Rock Festival at Donnington, England in 1980.
When they stormed the stage for the inaugural Castle Donington Monsters of Rock festival in August 1980, Saxon was at the top of their game and riding the crest of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. But what then seemed like only the first major achievement in a soon-to-be-legendary career sadly proved to be its highlight, as the band gradually fell from grace in the next few years. For what it's worth, however, Live at Donington captures Saxon at their concert fiercest, overcoming technical difficulties and a less-than-perfect sound mix to deliver a dazzling performance. Classics like "Motorcycle Man," "Stallions of the Highway," and "Wheels of Steel" are made all the more exciting by the uniqueness of the original event and the band's tangible surge of adrenalin at being there. [Some additional interview footage is the only difference between this release and the Angel Air version of three years later.] ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

| | Rocket Girl Compilation CD (2001) (Import) Germany
Till Death Do Us Part album
$22.35 Compilation featuring rare, new and unreleased trax from various bands on the London based Indie label Rocket Girl.
Named for the U.K.-based label that put it out, run by Vinita Joshi and specializing in a wide range of turn of the century psych, ambient, and indie bands, the two-CD effort A Rocket Girl Compilation is a fine portrait of a great outfit, one that pursues its vision of music and quality above all else excellently. The first disc contains those songs that appeared on the label's 7" singles during its first three years of existence; it's a handy way for those either not inclined or unable to find those efforts to get them all in one place. Kicking off with the two sides of the Silver Apples/Windy & Carl split single -- enjoyable as the remake of "I Have Known Love" is, Windy & Carl steal the show with "Crazy ...
