Sydney Wells (Alba) is an accomplished, independent, Los Angeles-based concert violinist. She is also blind, and has been so since a childhood tragedy. As our story opens, Sydney undergoes a double corneal transplant, a surgery she has waited her whole life to have, and her sight is restored. After the surgery, neural ophthalmologist Dr. Paul Faulkner (Nivola) helps Sydney with the difficult adjustment, and with the support of her older sister Helen (Posey), Sydney learns to see again. But Sydney's happiness is short-lived as unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Stars Jessica Alba THE EYE adapts the influential 2002 Hong Kong ghost tale by the Pang brothers into a star vehicle for Jessica Alba. While it remains faithful to the original story, this version ups the number of jolts for thrill-seeking Western audiences. Writing/directing team David Moreau and Xavier Palud, creators of the popular 2006 French thriller THEM, make their U.S. debut with a screenplay by Sebastian Gutierrez (SNAKES ON A PLANE), putting a few new twists on a cult favorite.
Concert violinist Sydney Wells (Alba) has been blind since she was five, when an accident involving firecrackers damaged her corneas. Now in her mid-20s, she has just undergone a transplant, a risky procedure that is not always successful. When the bandages come off, her sight slowly returns, and everything she sees is a new experience. A happy occasion becomes terrifying, though, when she begins to see horrifying visions of the dead. Fearing that she's losing her sanity, she enlists the help of Dr. Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola), who uncovers the identity of the donor of her new corneas and travels with her to Mexico to unravel the mystery of her horrific visions. Spare and effective, THE EYE retains the two most startling sequences from the original film--a truly chilling floating dead man in an elevator and an elaborate, explosive set piece at the conclusion. Moreau, Palud, and Gutierrez jazz the story up in other spots, with quick scares, sharp music cues, and twitchy apparitions reminiscent of those in JACOB'S LADDER, but the essence remains the same. Alba is fine as damsel in distress Sydney, and the always-enjoyable Parker Posey is uncharacteristically low-key as her airline hostess sister. With no gore or anything else objectionable, the film may also be good choice for younger viewers who enjoy a good scare. Eye Movie Review  Watered down version
This one can not get a good scare. If you want GOOD horror, stick with the original. Jessica Alba can't give the performance this role requires so it ends up watered down. The original with subtitles is a great film, this one, not so much.

 worst movie of the century
I saw the movie in theaters and I was not surprised nothing cool happened, Jessica Alba is the worst actress of the century, the movie was so boring and I started getting a headache.
Do not buy this crappy movie, don't waste your money.

I think Jessica alba did a good job,but it had a totally different feel to it than the original.That's both a good,and a bad thing.But I'd still buy it...

In the past, Michael Moore films like FAHRENHEIT 9/11 and SICKO have grossed millions, but for his 2008 documentary, Moore made the radical move of offering his film online for free. SLACKER UPRISING chronicles Moore's controversial efforts to bring out young voters, whom he affectionately calls "slackers," on a 2004 tour through the battleground states. Though his first audience in his native state of Michigan numbered in the hundreds, soon the events were gathering up to 16,000 people.
SLACKER UPRISING has a different feel than Moore's previous efforts. It's a little less polished, but there's no less enthusiasm for the subject on Moore's part. Even more than in his earlier films such as BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, the director is clearly the star here. This documentary feels like a hybrid of a political film and a rockumentary, with celebrities as varied as Eddie Vedder, Viggo Mortensen, and Roseanne Barr all making appearances to show their support for the cause. However, it's Moore who spends the most time on the stage, passionately pleading his anti-Bush case. George W.
