(1 Customer Review)
My Dying Bride's sound is so taut and so skillful that it is hard to believe that AN ODE TO WOE is not a studio album. If anything, the band's live sound is more bitter and ferocious, and AN ODE TO WOE dumps the listener right there in the mist-filled front row, head-banging along with the band's romantic doom metal. This set also offers an austere snapshot of the band's tumultuous career, picking both the brightest and the most morose moments out of a catalogue that spans nearly 20 years. An Ode To Woe album
$8.69 Covenant started to bring Morbid Angel up out of the underground, as MTV gave them wider exposure on its late Headbanger's Ball. Guitarist Trey Azagthoth plays complicated, heavily detuned riffs, some with a lightning-fast picking style and others in a slower groove. Drummer Pete Sandoval is one of the genre's fastest, and his jackhammer style helps complete Morbid Angel's core sound. Their incredible ...

An Ode To Woe CD music
$7.99 A seminal album that helped establish the death metal subgenre, Scream Bloody Gore may be slightly musically amateurish next to Death's subsequent albums, but it trades polish for savage, gut-wrenching force and speed. Building on the blueprint of Slayer's ...

| | Kreator Coma Of Souls CD (1990)
An Ode To Woe songs
$10.45 Although they remained largely without peer when it came to pure Germanic thrash metal, by the time of 1990's Coma of Souls, Kreator's very successful formula had begun to grow a little tired. The fact that they were coming off perhaps their biggest album yet in 1989's Extreme Aggression didn't help matters, and despite its overwhelmingly solid songwriting, Coma of Souls still sounded somewhat repetitive to all but the most unquestioning of fans. Still, better too much of a good thing than nothing at all, and with their head-spinning musicianship and well-chosen stabs at melody, complex moshers like "When the Sun Burns Red," "Angels of Brutality," and the title song are guaranteed to thrill lovers of technically proficient thrash. Two tracks in particular stand out of the pack, namely the outstanding "People of the Lie," whose chorus is almost too groovy and memorable to be called thrash metal, and the expertly executed "Terror Zone," with its unnaturally measured pace and a melodic intro to die for. Also of note, the band hardly skips a beat with the arrival of former Sodom guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik, who ...

| | Carcass Symphonies Of Sickness CD (1989) With DVD; Remastered; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
An Ode To Woe CD music
$14.69 English amateur medical enthusiasts Carcass are considered to be one of the most innovative and genre-expanding bands in both death metal and grindcore. Their second album, SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS, was a cooling off of the hellish molten core that their first album created. In place of furnace blasts, the songs on SYMPHONIES stretch out--at times at or around five minutes--playing with song structure and lyrical clarity. Jeff Walker's anatomical textbook grunts are more intelligible this time around, and songs like "Empathological Necroticism" embrace grind's intensity and death metal's complexity in equal measure.
This deluxe digipack edition contains the remastered album and an in-depth Carcass documentary film 'The Pathologists Report' (Part 2). The CD is a massively ...

| | Comets On Fire Avatar CD (2006) Digipak
An Ode To Woe songs
$11.85 Their third proper full-length and second album for Sub Pop, 2006's AVATAR is the most expansive and sonically varied release yet from Bay Area acid-rock combo Comets on Fire; it's also their most blatantly classic rock-inspired effort as well. Acting as something of a punk-rock auxiliary to the so-called "freak folk" movement of the early 2000s, Comets on Fire are not without certain obvious Summer of Love trappings, and the shuffling, near-jazzy noodlings that introduce many of the songs here sound tailor-made for the Fillmore West. While ...
