| | Siouxsie & The Banshees Nocturne CD (1983) (Import) United Kingdom
This Is The Blues songs
$12.79 Who ever would have assumed that Sex Pistols hanger-on Siouxsie Sioux would not only form a unique and compelling group of her own, but sustain it for decades after the Pistols dissolution? Although the band lost steam towards the '90s playing catch-up to newer trends and movements (who themselves owed Siouxsie a thing or two), at their peak the Banshees were a force to be reckoned with.
NOCTURNE is a document of the classic early '80s line-up captured live at the Royal Albert Hall in 1983. Without overdubs (as the album insert proudly proclaims), the Banshees manage to convey a multi-faceted sense of exoticism and menace, often within the same song. Classics like "Israel" and "Painted Bird" even seem ...
| | Siouxsie & The Banshees Kiss In The Dreamhouse CD (1982) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; United Kingdom
This Is The Blues album
$14.55 After releasing a succession of classic goth recordings that outdid its predecessor both commercially and artistically (JOIN HANDS, KALEIDOSCOPE, JUJU), Siouxse & the Banshees took a bit of a step back with their 1982 release, A KISS IN THE DREAM HOUSE. It's not to say that it isn't a fine record in it's own right, just that it recalls their earlier work rather than being another bold musical step further. Granted Siouxse's fifth studio album overall was a significant one in the band's career, since it was the first album by the Banshees in which she used her voice to its full potential, covering a lot of ground (whether it be ethereal whispering or psychedelic rock vocals). Several career highpoints can be sampled here, namely "Cascade," "Obsession," "Green Fingers," ...
| | Siouxsie & The Banshees Hyaena CD (1984) (Import) United Kingdom
This Is The Blues CD music
$11.89 Although Siouxse & the Banshees had been enjoying chart success back home in England since almost the very beginning of their career in the late 70's, the group had yet to make much of an impact on the American record buying public (despite releasing such exceptional goth classics as 1980's KALEIDOSCOPE and 81's JUJU). The band's seventh release overall, 84's HYAENA, was the first Banshees release to make an impact on the U.S. charts - even though it was far from a blockbuster stateside. The band had caused quite a stir amongst their longtime diehard fans when they covered a Beatles song ("Helter Skelter") on their '83 release, NOCTURNE, and instead of trying to extinguish the conflict, they went right back in and recorded another Beatles tune, "Dear Prudence" for HYAENA. Other highlights include ...
