While most teenagers were hanging out during their lunch break, Stefani Guzman was breaking into her high school's auditorium, playing on its massive stage, preparing.Since 2001, she has released five CDs independently: first as a solo artist, then as the front woman and songwriter of girly punk band the Hussies, and most recently as indie-folk/rock darling Eastborough.Stefani, an aggressive guitarist and energetic performer, has happily shared the stage with the Gossip, Cougar Party, DD/MM/YY, For the Mathematics, Lesbians on Ecstasy, Martina Sorbara, Pony Up, Ember Swift, We Are Wolves, Vitamins for You, and Tom Wilson. She has performed at the Ottawa Folk Festival (Showcase Winner), the Central Canada Exhibition (Showcase Winner), Ladyfest, the acclaimed Women's Voices Festival, CKCU 93.1 FM's Live Music Show and most recently Toronto's 2008 North By Northeast (NXNE) music & film festival. On stage, she is often surrounded by veterans of the Ottawa music scene who mix in a crunchy backline and layer splashes of trumpet, melodica, glockenspiel, cello and moog over non-fiction stories inspired by Xâs & Oâs and action & consequence. Her songs âSleepover with Grahamâ, Miles Awayâ and âBrief Encounterâ are featured in Tori Fostersâ independent documentary â533 Statementsâ which won Best Canadian Feature at Torontoâs Inside Out Festival and is currently being screened worldwide. In October of 2006 Eastborough released a self-titled debut which received exposure from the Ottawa Sun, Live 88.5FM and CKCU 93.1FM. The final product throbs with urgency - four tightly crafted songs hammered out from late night sessions in a smoky farmhouse basement. As a 2008 Ottawa Arts Funding Grant recipient, Eastborough is currently working on a 2008 full length release which includes the popular and quirky ukulele song "Shuffle & Slide" as well as the haunting "When You Ask".This is music for the broken hearted, music for seekers, music for lovers... music for sinners.Eastborough rolls out the sonic bed sheets and invites you in for a romp. S/T album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second ...

| | Hoppin John Orchestra Hoppin' John Orchestra CD (2008)
S/T album
$16.45 Established in 1996 as the Black Eyed Peas Brass Band, the current Hoppin' John Orchestra has seen our name, our music and our musicians evolve and change in many ways over the years. For the uninitiated, Hoppin' John is a tasty, tasty dish, one of whose main ingredients is black-eyed peas. One look at a current radio chart and one can see why the change occurred. Still and all, we find it a fitting moniker for our efforts. Four of the original eight members remain: Matt Cappy on Trumpet, Tony Gairo on Flute, Clarinet, Soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxophones, Mike Hood on Bass, Trombone, Arranging and Composing and Lou Fuiano on Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones. Our very first singer, Wayne Harvey now performs in the Media area as a solo singer songwriter and with area bands. Wayne performed with us in 96' and '97. Our second singer Laura Woods still performs with us occasionally and has become the mother of two lads! Laura was with us from '97 through '02 and has recorded with us on several occasions. Our very accomplished and much missed Tubist, Shane Petit, now plays Tuba and repairs musical instruments for the U.S. Army. He may still sit in once in a while. Over the years as our musician's careers have taken off, we have been more and sometimes less active performing and have now weathered two significant hiatii. These days, our musical dish is enlivened by Adam Hershberger on Trumpet, Dave Champion on Trombone, Brian Cox on Tuba and Bass Saxophone, Joe Napoli on Guitar, ...

| | Sarah MacDougall Across The Atlantic CD (2009)
S/T CD music
$15.19 Swedish/Canadian songwriter, Sarah MacDougall is a storyteller, entertainer and pop-troubadour with a haunting voice and songs to match. She delivers each song with passion and depth: her music rips your heart out, twists it around and then, gently coaxes it back home. Combining the raw, rustic quality of lonesome country tales with warm folk melodies and a scandinavian sense of melancholy, Sarah writes about love, heartbreak, crows and living in the city. Now Sarah tours in Canada, UK, and Scandinavia, and captures her audience with her spontaneous stage presence and a Scandinavian-Folk Americana style that has earned her the reputation as one of the most interesting emerging singer/songwriters of the Canadian West.Reviews of 'Across the Atlantic': "MacDougall s latest effort, Across the Atlantic (due out in early 2009 on Copperspine Records) is a moving blend of Scandinavian folk and indie Americana. From sing-a-long ditties to heart-breaking epics, Across the Atlantic gracefully highlights the hook, energy, and honesty of one of the most promising exports to come out of Sweden since ABBA rolled into town drunk on Absolute in their Volvo station wagon." - R. C. Joseph, 24 hours, Vancouver,"Most accurately described as Scandinavian country music, the album s 10 songs present country music in a refreshingly new context with elements of folk, world and old minstrel music. As a songwriter MacDougall writes engaging lyrics wrapped around appealing melodic hooks and her voice is as beguiling as it s captivating (in her low register she resembles Eliza Gilkyson). She also shows considerable skill ...
