Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles Frank Sinatra stars as Danny Ocean in this crime comedy about a former paratrooper, who talks ten other ex-members of the 82nd Airborne into a plan to take five of the biggest casinos in Las Vegas for a few million dollars on New Year's Eve. Of course among the group are the legendary members of the Rat Pack: Sam Harmon (Dean Martin), Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford), Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.), and Mushy O'Connors (Joey Bishop). Danny, whose marriage to Bea (Angie Dickinson) is on thin ice, feels the skills he acquired in the service will prove more profitable in the criminal world. Not all the prospective thieves are self serving; the injured Tony Bergdorf (Richard Conte) needs the money for his son's education. But most of the men, like Josh, who won the Distinguished Service Medal and now drives a garbage truck, feel they deserved better from their country. It appears that Danny has drawn up the perfect heist--assuming they can steer clear of Duke Santos (Cesar Romero), an ex-con (and Jimmy's prospective father-in-law) who's caught wind of their scheme.
This caper comedy, perhaps the most uncharacteristic film of director Lewis Milestone's career, stars Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean. He pulls together a collection of ten old war buddies to pull a heist of five casinos on the same night. Not surprisingly, the characters happen to be members of the fabled Rat Pack: Sam Harmon (Dean Martin), Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.) Mushy O'Connors (Joey Bishop) and Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford). Everything goes right until, of course, something goes wrong. The film was released on August 10, 1960.

Ocean's Eleven Movie Review An Entertaining Experience Ocean's 11 is a thoroughly enjoyable movie, both in plot and character, as well as in acting. I enjoyed seeing some old familiar faces such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, and Peter Lawford-among others-and was pleasantly surprised to hear a song or two, although considering who the actors were, I guess I should NOT have been surprised! The movie itself moves along at a pretty good pace, so it never becomes boring. Humor is spliced throughout, and the locations used are fun to see. The ending was a bit surprising for me, although in hindsight I guess it should not have been; there was even a bit of delicious irony in the ending. All in all this was a very fun movie to watch, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Submitted by tara01 (King of Prussia, PA USA) Was This Review Helpful? The Original, the BEST ! What more could you ask for ~ Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, and supporting cast (i.e, Angie Dickerson). By day, the "Rat Pack" was weaving together a memorable motion picture, and bringing down the house at the Sands Hotel at night. Las Vegas was their playground, and the adoring public was their reason to shine. A must addition to your DVD collection. Submitted by rekroesser (Williamsburg, VA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? style, class, the era Whilst the movie may have lacked all the techno whiz bangs and pretty flashing lights, (thank goodness)etc of todays movies, it was a movie about a craft, an era of style, but looking at the line of stars, what else ? a classic one A great movie.
Very enjoyable with great actors.
A must for a collection of classic movies. The remake is much more dynamic but this one is the original one. Submitted by jorgeshiu (Miami FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

While their theatrical stage show (which featured the singer getting his head chopped off by a guillotine) may have made Alice Cooper a household name, the material on BILLION DOLLAR BABIES is so exceptional there is no danger of the music being overshadowed by gimmicks. The album became Cooper's biggest selling release, but it would prove the last effort by the original incarnation of the Alice Cooper band (who would up split a year later). But the group hits the mark completely here, combining the raw garage rock of earlier albums with a glossier production, but with plenty of edge, grit, and sleaze still at the music's core.
While mission statement "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is the best-known song, the rest of the album is just as strong. The title track features a backing vocal by Donovan and a mammoth backbeat from drummer Neal Smith, while sweet melodicism plays an important role in "Generation Landslide" and "Mary Ann." Cooper's rock-and-shock aesthetic can heard in the future concert staples "Sick Things" and "I Love the Dead," giving the sleek sound of the album a wonderfully seamy ...

Ocean's Eleven review
$9.79 Following closely on the heels of Stanley Kubrik's DR. STRANGELOVE (all too closely for Kubrick and company, who quickly filed a lawsuit alleging plagiarism), Sidney Lumet's FAIL-SAFE employs a similarly stylized and heightened dramatic structure in its nerve-crushing moral tale. Taking place over the course of a single day, the film follows government and army officials in Nebraska, New York City, and Washington, D.C., as they go about their day supervising, examining, and speculating on the fragile state of affairs engendered by the tense nuclear standoff between the U.S. and Russia. When an off-course commercial airplane triggers the Pentagon's complex "fail-safe" maneuver, leaving an arsenal of nuclear-bomb-carrying ...
| | Recollections: The Very Best Of Rick Wakeman (1973-1979) CD (2000)
Ocean's Eleven DVD
$12.29 With all of his lengthy suites and unified concept albums, Rick Wakeman's solo work would appear to be very difficult to anthologize. As the first Wakeman compilation available domestically in the U.S., that's what Recollections: The Very Best of Rick Wakeman (1973-1979) sets out to do. The two tracks from Journey to the Centre of the Earth are edited excerpts, but otherwise all the material is present in its original, full-length form. Most of the other pieces (14 in all) are from The Six Wives of Henry VIII, The Myths & Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, White Rock, and Rick Wakeman's Criminal Record -- most of them cohesive concept works that devoted fans will already have. By its very nature, Recollections can't be anything other than a sampler for casual fans, but in that respect it functions very well. ~ Steve Huey
2001 compilation for the Yes keyboard maestro. 14 of his most cherished tracks assembled onto one disc for over 78 minutes of pure Wakeman. Tracks include, 'Catherine Of Aragon', 'Catherine Howard', 'Arthur', 'Merlin The Magician' and 'Chamber Of Horrors'. 2000 release. Standard ...
