Borrowing his name from the archetypal inventor in Greek mythology, Daedelus (born Alfred Weisberg-Roberts) fuses his formal jazz training with the cutting-edge sounds of IDM, fashioning bold, imaginative electro-pop creations that defy easy classification. LOVE TO MAKE MUSIC TO is the Los Angeles-based producer's ninth album, his first for the redoubtable U.K. hip-hop label Ninja Tune. Contrasting the modernist production touch of dubstep and contemporary R&B with buoyant, romantic synth melodies, Daedelus makes sophisticated 21st-century jams that tug on heartstrings while moving your feet.

The Organ's 2002 debut EP Sinking Hearts was more captivating than most of that year's full-length releases: over the course of just 15 minutes, the band crafted chiaroscuro meditations on falling in and out of love that were just as light and jangly as they were dark and brooding. The EP was a promising beginning, and Grab That Gun, the Organ's first album, builds on that promise by delivering more appealingly moody music instead of reinventing the band's sound. It's tempting, initially, to be slightly disappointed that the Organ didn't broaden its sonic territory. After stunning the rock world with their memorable debut in 1975, the Tubes ran into trouble. Although Young And Rich and Now had fine moments, they were uneven and left many rock pundits wondering if the Tubes had anything to offer besides shock value. They got their answer with the release of Remote Control, a cohesive and surprisingly thoughtful concept album. On this 1979 outing, the Tubes enlisted the services of wunderkind producer Todd Rundgren to create a concept album that skewers the television generation.
