Rod Stewart Never A Dull Moment (Gold) CD  (1972) Gold

You album
CD $19.10  SALE 2 stars Top 100
NEVER A DULL MOMENT picks up where EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY left off. Here we have more raucous rock & roll with healthy dollops of soul and twang thrown in for good measure. Always looking for a good songwriter to cover, Stewart's honorees here include Jimi Hendrix ("Angel"), Dylan ("Mama You Been On My Mind"), and Rod's personal hero, Sam Cooke ("Twistin' The Night Away"). Sidling up nicely next to these heartfelt interpretations are some of Stewart's finest original songs. Teaming with spiritual brother Ron Wood, Stewart offers up the cheeky "Italian Girls" and "True Blue," a track that goes along at a mid-tempo clip before exploding into a heartfelt rave-up. Most notable is a collaboration with Martin Quittenton on "You Wear It Well," an irresistible addition to the Stewart canon. Although the Sam Cooke cover is the one spot where the soulful Scot would be expected to indulge his R&B jones, Etta James's "I'd Rather Go Blind" is where Rod brings it ...

It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. ...

CD $13.84  SALE 5 stars Top 100
Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer -- though equally revamped -- version of "Singapore" from 1985's Rain Dogs. Musically, the performances are flawless, as is the sound on this set. The killer stage band includes Vincent Henry on woodwinds and harmonica, guitarist Omar Torres, Patrick Warren on piano and keyboards, Casey Waits on drums/percussion, and Seth Ford Young ...

Daughtry Leave This Town CD  (2009)

You album
CD $15.45  4.4 stars Top 500 Audio Samples
When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like specters over an abandoned Californian street. The five rockers serve as visual evidence that Daughtry is a band, not a person, and such reminders may be necessary because LEAVE THIS TOWN doesn't differ much in feel or form from DAUGHTRY. Overall, LEAVE THIS TOWN isn't quite as studio slick as DAUGHTRY, which was fueled by Chris Daughtry's desire prove that he belonged in the big leagues; here, he's achieved that goal and he's happy to stay there as long as possible, giving the people what they want in the form of furrow-browed rockers and brooding power ballads, all saved from their self-conscious sobriety by arena-level hooks, hooks that come from Daughtry and a variety of co-writers including Ben Moody and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. Daughtry brings these big hooks down to human scale, injecting warmth into his phrasing. Daughtry the band has no desire to make anything other than good, basic, black-and-white modern rock and they do so efficiently ...

Equal parts concept record and mash note, Behind Brigitte Bardot celebrates the legendary French sex kitten via West Coast jazz interpretations of her biggest film themes -- the precise raison d'ętre behind the album is a mystery, but it's nevertheless a charmer, boasting some of Pete Rugolo's lushest and loveliest arrangements. Texas Blend is made up of different musicians from all types of backgrounds. Each one of us have a different influence and sound that blend together to make up a unique sound all our own. We are a group with tradtional roots & an outlaw edge. We don't care to be labeled with a certain style or compared to others in our sound. We just do what feels right, after all in music if you can't truly feel what your doing then there is no point in doing it. We do cover music in our performances, but the true pleassure is when we do our originals and people like what they hear. That's when we know what we're doing, is what we were meant to do. As artists and realists we know that there are some that just aren't going to be pleased with everything we do, but we hope for the most part everyone can find something in our original material that they do like. The Brontosaurus LP is "...a heavy, psychedelic, engaging set of songs. The album rocks, a well-crafted, thoughtfully constructed beast of many faces: dark, experimental, enticing, and imaginative."-Lisa Zyga, Innnocent Words MagazineThe mighty Brontosaur once lived in Los Angeles. It acquired audio technology. One of the preceding statements is true. The other will soon be true. Americans agree that the Brontosaur loves freedom. Rather, it would have loved freedom had it not been trapped in a tar-swamp eons ago. Recent studies indicate that a foreign space craft called "The Saturn" (piloted by the from-space-in-the-future-equivalent of a male-female tandem of Russian scientists) saved the Brontosaur from certain demise (at the hands of what is known in the future to be the most obvious cause of extinction but cannot be repeated here in the past for obvious reasons) in an act of direct insubordination toward the specific instructions from Maxwell, the head of the Planetary Council of American Freedom (PCAF). This album is their story.Incidentally, musicians t.parks (Firetrucs), kellii scott (Veruca Salt, Failure), and brian gruidl (Firetrucs, So It Goes) ...

Love to loose my self into music!Music is my main tool into fearlessness, flowering of love and becoming consciously one with the flow!Playing music for my joy and heart opening.Do it everywhere, by myself or with anyone who can and loves to play and dance.Very much into 'from scratch' improvisation. Autodidact combined with the help of many great teachers, plus many hours of day by day playing and enjoying musicCountless performances along my life, in which I go on stage on my own or with other musicians, and play my instruments and sing.Mainly using acoustic instruments and my voice, to create the music of the moment, varies between trance state and meditative state. Many times people start dancing in the performances. The music I create on stage feels as if it was planned before, but never is. It's all coming from my heart and from the people all around, with their wish to keep it going, moment to moment. Listening very carefully inside and outside is the key for it to excitedly happen.Yes, it's risky to go on stage and play from scratch, with nothing memorized ahead of time, specially when you get paid for doing it, and people expect you to give a kind of a show, but that's the only way I really enjoy and like doing it.After performances people often ask me how many years I'm playing the flute, and if I have a CD available.About twenty years since I fell in love with this instrument and taught myself building and playing about five different kind of flutes from around the world.Recently I recorded a new album and in a way it's very much like me performing, but it's not. It was recorded in a professional studio with few other musician who are playing HangDrum, and Percussion. Keeping it relaxed and simple, just like I do in live performance, but with the quality of studio recording and professional mixing and mastering. I invested four months of hard work and all my savings on this commercial independent project album for you to enjoy, and for me to keep on spreading around my music from the heart.I'm traveling around the world with my instruments and performing. My living base is mainly in the city, or in any central location in this globe. My heart would always be in the country side and I always like to spend some time out there in nature. I keep on living in the city, I guess because that's where I meet great musician and that's where I can play many performances. That's also where I always find my magic tribe.Dancing and singing are my first and main instruments and I would never miss a chance to let mother music, guide me into trance and meditation. If anyone has a question or would like some tips, pleas contact me.I can give any information, and try to encourage people to switch into ...

Jesus Saves

COUNRY FOLK SINGER/SONG WRITER FINDS INSPIRTION IN AMERICAN GRAFFETI “Jesus Saves” written in American graffiti is a winner” says Loyd Burleson, referring to his new inspirational, country folk CD. “I got the idea for a song when I kept seeing “Jesus Saves” graffiti on buildings, sidewalks, and trains” Loyd reflects, “and I decided to call the album “Jesus Saves”. It is a beautiful blend of country folk, with a touch of inspiration. “American graffiti, it’s written on a box car door. I saw it on a sidewalk, in Portland, Oregon. And in the Salt Lake dessert, on an old building I did find, the words, “Jesus Saves”, so I put it in this rhyme.” Loyd, a resident of Cleveland,Texas many years ago, recalls being a teenager and going to church. His late uncle, Tommy Hamilton, was a preacher in Cleveland Texas, and Loyd sings about it in the 2nd song on the album, “Church down the Road”. Loyd says “As a teenager, I remember attending church with the Hamilton family which gave me the inspiration in writing this song; “I was just a teen age boy, when I felt that gospel joy, when that little country choir began to sing, when the roll is called up yonder, and the time shall be no more, then everybody sing, I’ll fly away”, Loyd, now residing in Centerville, Utah, credits his experiences growing up in East Texas and Arizona. “I have much to draw from in my childhood experiences,” says Loyd.In this CD, Loyd sings and plays the acoustic guitar. He is backed up by a pedal steel guitar. His great finger picking and the pedal steel give the songs a beautiful blend. The third song on the album, “Never Dimmed the Light in My Mama’s Eyes”, Loyd remembers living in rural Cleveland when there wasn’t any electricity and their light source was kerosene lamps. In the song he sings “dark was the night with a kerosene light, but it never dimmed the light in my mama’s eyes”. “We were pretty poor in those days”, Loyd recalls. My dad worked in the pulp wood and did some trapping for mink and coons. But living that life style gives me experiences I wouldn’t otherwise have had. It also helps to have a greater appreciation. Loyd has just completed another album called “Tangled in My Fishing Line” to be released in 09. This album, features Loyd and his brother, Lawrence, teaming up for some good pickin’ and harmony. Loyd is currently ...
