The Grassroot Deviation is a four piece musical group relentlessly wandering the spectrum of roots, rock and funk. Blending a multiplicity of musical genres, expressive lyrics, compelling rhythms and guitar harmonies, the band delivers a vibrant and explosive live experience. Consisting of guitarists/vocalists Brian Parker and Dan Smith, bassist/fiddler Mike Barer and drummer Vinay Jhass, The Grassroot Deviation is a mainstay of the burgeoning Alberta live music scene.The Grassroot Deviation has shared the bill with an eclectic range of acts including Keller Williams, That One Guy, Wide Mouth Mason, Wasabi Collective, Slowcoaster, Captain Tractor, Hey Ocean, and Five Alarm Funk. They have performed over 100 shows across Canada, pleasing audiences with their diverse, Alberta driven compositions.In October 2007, The Grassroot Deviation released their sophomore album ‘The Circuit’. The disc has been described as “direct and raw” and the band “more party-driven than most of their folk counterparts” (Edmonton Journal, October 2 2007). In July 2007 the band embarked on a cross Canada tour in promotion of their new CD, culminating at the Evolve Festival in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.With frequently sold out shows, a devoted fan base, and a constantly evolving sound, The Grassroot Deviation is energized about the future. Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. Bio of Rodney Jordan (AKA Rj) --Psalmist and recording artist Rodney Jordan (a.k.a. Rj) was born in Toledo , Ohio , on October 9, 1973. He was raised on the farmlands of Swanton , Ohio along with his four older brothers. Even at the age of 2 years old Rodney could be heard joyfully singing around the house. Rodney however, was also an extremely shy person in his younger years and was only comfortable when singing around his immediate family. His mother would often encourage him to sing in front of other people, but he could not get past his fear. He recalls her saying, “You’ve got a gift boy! Just let it out and let God use you!” These encouraging words, along with the support of his church family caused him to begin to realize the powerful gift that he had on the inside. Rodney began singing in the Cornerstone Church youth ministry At the age of 16. (Cornerstone Church-Toledo, Ohio Pastor Michael S. Pitts Senior Pastor) www.cornerstonechurch.us and joined the Cornerstone Praise Team at age 17.
