Good As Dead Light In The Dark CD

Good as Dead’s story is not a story of weekend warriors who mess around on the weekends for their friends. No. Instead, their story is one of hard work, dedication, and an undying love of music and the emotions that it can evoke. Good as Dead started in lead singer and guitar player Jesse Mee's shed in May of 2003. At the time, the band was just a couple of friends who decided it would be fun to start jamming with each other in their spare time. These friends consisted of Jesse Mee, a Junior in high school who had been playing guitar for a couple of years, Sam Blankenship, a Senior who was quickly becoming recognized by his music teachers for his outstanding drumming ability, and Evan Berger, another Senior with a knack for the bass and a love of punk music. These three continued to practice and write together until the fall of 2004 when they added a friend of theirs named Craig Berry, to assist with the rhythm guitar parts. With an extra guitar to thicken the sound, and an extra mind to aid in writing, Good as Dead began to realize their potential as a band. Good as Dead continued to play shows, even landing some opening gigs for touring bands at venues such as Albuquerque’s fabled LaunchPad, and making a name for themselves with repeated appearances at a local venue called the Cell theatre. However, life always finds a way to intervene, and after an extended tour stint with the Long Island, New York based band Brookside, bassist Evan Berger left the band to pursue other interests. After trying out a couple of other bass players to no avail, Good as Dead finally turned to friend Jeremy Yazzie, a seasoned guitar player, to help them out. It was exactly what the band needed to finally hit their stride. Soon after the addition of Jeremy to the band, Good as Dead began a writing and recording rampage as a result of their newfound chemistry. They were applauded at shows, and complimented on their tight, powerful sound and impressive live performance. The fire had been lit, and it was not going to burn out easily, as these men now found themselves on a mission, landing bigger and better shows, and playing to larger and larger crowds. Good as Dead began to open for bands such as Bayside, The Academy Is…, Halifax, Umbrellas, Lydia, Alesana, and more.Finding themselves more motivated than ever, the band began recording their first full length CD of their current arrangement (While still a 3 piece, they had professionally recorded a 10 track CD). The CD was entitled “A Light in the Dark,” after the emotional second track on the album about the Virginia Tech shootings. The CD was met with packed CD release shows, and praise from fans that had listened to it. Ultimately, the sensation surrounding the CD culminated with an unheard of one entry/one victory submission to the New Mexico Music Association’s “MIC” Awards, in which the first single off of the CD, entitled “Way to go Romeo,” won the Best Musical Production Mainstream Rock category. To veteran producer John Wall’s knowledge, this victory marked the first time in the history of the awards that a band had entered one song and had that song win it’s category. Fueled by this victory, and the tenacious desire to spread their music around the world, Good as Dead is on a mission to write, perform, and record their next album in hopes of raising the bar to an even higher level. And rest assured that until that level is reached, Good as Dead will show an undying, relentless drive to get there.h.
