| | Doors Soft Parade CD (1969) Gold; Remastered
Sooner Or Later CD music
$20.29 Dismissed by the benighted as the Doors' "pop album," SOFT PARADE is one of the band's most adventurous recordings, utilizing strings and horns without resorting to schlocky over-production and moving far beyond their blues roots. Morrison was fully into his shaman phase by 1969, and his obsession with that image is reflected in the proselytizing air of "Tell All the People," and of course "Shaman's Blues." The album's biggest hit "Touch Me," while easily the group's most radio-friendly offering, is a pop classic that ranks among the great '60s AM radio tunes. "Wild Child" is a brief return to the blues-rock of yore, but the title track is a sophisticated, extended ...

$36.09 | | Teen Time: The Young Years Of Rock & Roll, Vol. 2: I Got Rhythm CD (2004)
Sooner Or Later music CDs
$13.69 The long-running series Golden Age of American Rock 'n' Roll from Ace has rewarded long-suffering fans of early rock and pop with a bounty of late-'50s and early-'60s songs, most of which reached the Top 40, but have been under-served by reissues since. The Eric label, with its own series Teen Time: The Young Years of Rock & Roll, picked up yet more slack with its 20-song collections of pop hits -- most of them on the rare side -- that serve the same purpose as the Ace volumes and pay similarly high dividends. The second volume of Teen Time, subtitled "I Got Rhythm," focuses on uptempo material, whether rock- or jazz-based (not all of it uptempo). It casts the net wider than Ace volumes, taking in several low chart entries, as well as a few later hits, but narrows the focus on material by including more artists with jazz-vocal tropes and ignoring R&B with only a few exceptions. Any listeners with ...

| | Glasses Story Problems CD (2008)
Sooner Or Later album
$6.69 These are the story problems of a boy who lives to make music. From the start until now, he just wants to return the favor for all the bands and songs he has discovered and loves. The songs that flood him with what he calls "that deep blue sensation". "It's like infatuation," he said "like when moonlight falls...I don't know how to describe it." A few years ago he moved to the city to find other like-minded individuals who would join him in his quest for creating dreamy indie-pop music. People like him who dress slightly off and wear confused hair as a matter of pride. People that are inspired by the glow from fireflies and stars and take enjoyment in the simple things, like paper airplanes. After much searching he did indeed find and was able to write and record songs with a variety of musicians. Through the years they joined him in this group, The Glasses. But none of them stuck around for very long. Like his psychiatrist says, "People are often of a strange nature." Forlorn, but still determined, the boy decided to go it alone. To continue to make music, but now on his own. He sold the tour van, gave up the precious real estate of an urban practice space and in turn purchased some low-budget recording equipment. From the small town world in his head and through a vivid change of seasons he finished another full-length album himself (though with some creative contributions from his friends). If you listen close enough, if you pay close attention to the music, you'll discover in these songs what "shows through my t shirt." Even if, with his songs, he blew a kiss and it reached no one, well, at least he enjoyed making the thing. "There are a few moments on the album that I am very proud of," said the boy. "Particular movements of sound that reach into my chest. They make me feel good. I just hope that others will listen and feel good too, if only for a little while."PRESS QUOTESStory Problems"Oh yeah. This is the stuff that gets me excited. The Glasses are the style of indie pop that’s packed with male/female vocals and totally catchy vocal and instrumental hooks. I love the sound. I love the visual concepts behind Story Problems. And I love virtually every song on the album." -Fensepost"Story Problems is a collection of droll, earnest pop songs ...
