DANNY JAMES Discover the "Lost Treasure" of Danny James!"I hear songs in everything I do," says Danny. "I really am that person who scribbles an idea at 3 a.m., and then tries to figure it out the next day. If I were a painter, I'd only draw stick people. But musically, I can flesh out the bones with my producers help. Just listen to my songs and I think you will find some interesting stories Danny's music has roots in the San Francisco bay area, where he was raised. During his high school years, he sang in Gilbert and Sullivan musicals and also played the French Horn, Sax, and Tympani just for fun. Danny's father owned a "voice of velvet" and his mother, as Danny puts it, "Couldn't carry a tune in a bucket." Still, she encouraged Danny to be a part of music and bought him his first guitar -- a Sears Airline, when he was 13. Soon after Danny's teenage band was formed, the bass player left. The remaining members scrambled to fill the new bass player spot. They agreed that whoever was able to bring a bass and amp to practice would win that spot. Danny was first! His lifelong friend Gary Davis says, "Danny wasn't just a bass player. He was always focused on the music. He learned all the songs, and then he taught us our parts. Danny arranged the harmonies, and even though Danny wasn't a great drummer, he sometimes had to help me learn the drumbeats. He also plays guitar and keyboards, writes the songs, and sings them with that wonderful voice." Danny's younger years brought him the opportunity to listen to many of the soon-to-be legendary bands that played around the San Francisco bay area. At that time, many of those bands were just breaking into the rock music scene. It was here when Danny actually began his musical career. A few years later, Southern California found Danny as a bass player, lyricist and singer for "Wildfire" -- a powerful rock band that touched the hearts of many people around the world. "Wildfire" opened for ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Allman Brothers, Lee Michaels, and numerous other well known artists who were up-and-coming at that time. Danny's next major step was as a bass player, lyricist and singer with "The Blitz Brothers" -- a premiere San Diego band that opened local concert performances for such name acts as Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, Jeff Beck and many others. One night, when opening for Tina Turner, Danny was surprised when Tina asked him to talk with her backstage. Tina asked Danny, "Where did you learn to sing like that?" Danny replied, "Listening to you and Aretha, of course." Tina smiled. Danny immediately sensed the opportunity of that special moment with Tina. He then asked her, "What do you think is your biggest contribution to music?" Tina laughed this time and then replied, "Well, honey, I taught women how to dance in high heels!" Needless to say, Tina is Danny's favorite! In 2007, Danny joined forces with Black Rose Productions. His "Atlantis" CD was produced and recorded by John Pandolfo at Night Flight Music Productions in New York, and Danny says, "John is the best producer/engineer and friend any musician could have." Atlantis songs
$13.75 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. That said, the Judas Priest frontman approaches yuletide standards like "We Three Kings" and "What Child Is This?" with the same conviction that he applied to Priest classics like "Electric Eye" and "Freewheel Burning" -- it probably helps that most traditional Christmas hymns tend to fall into the same brooding minor keys that serve as ...
| | Tom Waits Glitter And Doom Live CDs (2009) Digipak
Atlantis album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's ...

Atlantis CD music
$14.29 Digitally remastered by Doug Sax (The Mastering Lab, Los Angeles, California).
Master Sound releases are 24-karat gold CDs remastered from first-generation masters. This process utilizes 20-bit technology and Sony's "Super Bit Mapping" system.
The breakthrough success of DARK SIDE OF THE MOON made WISH YOU WERE HERE a crucial follow-up in strictly commercial terms. Further pressure came from it being Pink Floyd's first recording for a new label, Columbia. Yet the demands on the band only provided Roger Waters with more fodder for his lyrics, which glanced at the band's roots as well as their new responsibilities.
The mechanized throb of a VCS3 synthesizer, fed through a repeat-echo unit, signals the opening bars of "Welcome to the Machine," a diatribe ...

On'Yo!', a pan-American band of tango and jazz musicians has been assembled, including the pianist Pablo Ziegler, the drummer Robby Ameen and the bassist Steve Swallow. While they touch on tradition with the popular classic 'Cuesta Abajo,' made famous by Carlos Gardel, as well as a tango nuevo Astor Piazzolla piece. But they had the bright idea of going beyond Argentina as well. A version of 'Te Amo,' by the Brazilian songwriter Chico Buarque, is shatteringly good -- slow, deep, and rhythmically loose.'Yo! is an impressive work of fragile pride ...
