| | Shane Parton Lustre From The Distance CD Shane Parton Discography of CDs
Shane Parton delivers his second album titled Lustre from the Distance. It is an introspective work that travels through the heart, reflecting the way it loves, the way it feels when love dissolves, and pondering how things might have been different if only things were different. Kicking off this collection is the infectious blues-dusted groove "Unspoken" which captures the attention from the very start and holds on long after the song has ended. As it continues, Lustre soars through lush, guitar driven, sounds and drifts inward touching melodic, delicate, folk inspired songs before turning back out to land on the same positive note from which it started. This pop/rock infused album occasionally finds the angry, defiant voice that Shane established with his debut -Cusp- but predominantly features a mature, smooth sound that is ripe for the taking. These 12 tracks were written and recorded from 2003-2007 at Studio 132 in San Francisco. Joyful, sorrowful, honest, and human, Lustre from the Distance is an album we can all identify with and serves as a reminder of just how powerful music can be. Lustre From The Distance album
$19.10 Whereas Alice Cooper's first two studio albums, 1969's PRETTIES FOR YOU and 1970's EASY ACTION, tended more towards the trippy excesses of the hippie era, their next one, 1971's LOVE IT TO DEATH introduced the world to the heavy ...
| | Joe Walsh Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get CD (1973) Gold
Lustre From The Distance CD music
$19.10 "Rocky Mountain Way," the tune that opens Joe Walsh's sophomore release (and remains one of his best-known songs), is a textbook example of Walsh's strengths. The song is driven by a slinky hard rock groove that boasts crunchy, distorted guitars, barrelhouse piano, wiry solos, and a catchy, singalong chorus--proving Walsh's penchant for mixing rock elements and radio-ready ...
| | John Mayer Battle Studies CD (2009)
Lustre From The Distance music CDs
$12.95 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song.something perfectly appropriate for a make-out album like this. Sometimes, Mayer dips too heavily toward the texture, but he can't resist a good, tight melody and builds the bulk of Battle Studies upon them: the elegant "Half of My Heart," the softly soulful ...
| | The Very Best Of Enya CDs (2009) With DVD
Lustre From The Distance songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. ~ James Christopher Monger
