The Fort Myers-based rapper known as Plies continues to step up his game on his sophomore release, DEFINITION OF REAL. With a jarring vocal presence, Plies spins hardcore tales of street struggle over tracks by J.R. Rotem, Midnight Black, and Drumma Boy, among others. In "Bushes," the record's most inventive lyrical outing, Plies warns haters where they can find him creeping if they get on his bad side.
Not even a year had passed since his debut, but the second time around Florida rapper Plies displays great growth. His lyrics here are sharper than those on his debut with the trials, tribulations, and triumphs he's experienced living the street life coming through loud and clear. This journey isn't for the weak-hearted, however, as Plies is an unapologetic beast who -- to paraphrase the frightening "Bushes" -- didn't come for your money, but came for your life. "Bushes" is a vivid lesson on how to catch and gut a snitch that could only be written by someone made hard by prison. Even more vicious is "Ol' Lady"'s attitude toward women who, in this case, are commodities used to pay off outstanding loans in lieu of cash. This is guys' night out without any moral compass with one grand exception, "1 Day," a heartbreaking letter to a friend on lockup where Plies wishes he could take his incarcerated homie "by the day care to see his son play/And go to show him how his baby mama went astray." Despite its great Patti LaBelle sample, "Somebody (Loves You)" is less convincing and seems forced upon the album like the other radio-friendly tracks -- "Bust It Baby, Pt. 2" with Ne-Yo, and "Please Excuse My Hands" with the Dream. Man Plies comes as fresh air in the hip hop scene.his rap is totally different fro Wayne and co,Plies is real,a man that lived the street and embraced the philosophy of bein' a goon,i personally consider Plies one of the most original contemporary hip hop artist,in this record he finds some time to reconsider his identity as a goon(worth goin' fed fo) and shows his mellow side(1 day,somebody loves you) there are songs for the goonsn in this reccords as weell as songs more oriented about some females anatomy (please excuse my hand,feel like fxxxxxx)you'll need those last 2 to warm up your ladies.A good release by the way that crosses in between mainstream hip hop and more elaborated hip hop.Plies shows that you can be somethin' in between the two styles .4 stars for homeboy Plies.

 Amazing----Da Realist Album Eva
I loved da entire album, when I first purchased the album, it stayed in my cd player about a month straight before I decided to take it out. I love listening to Plies, he was just real on this album, just like his last album..... I love both of the albums.... Listening to this album you can feel the pain he's been through (somebody loves you, die together, 1 day)of course he always represent for the ladies (#1 fan, please excusse my hands, bust it baby pt.1 and 2, feel like f-ckin), the message to da haters I just love (watch dis, who hotter than me, ol lady, da man) just bye it and listen to it you will understand and feel me as well...........

sure maybe this wasnt as hard as real testament but this whole cd was straight up real talk. especially in 1 Day. u cant get any more real than that
