Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny album for sale Product Description
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny album for sale by Donny Osmond was released Jun 17, 2008 on the 7T's label. Packaged together here as part of the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, Donny Osmond's first two albums were all but recorded by default; even as he recorded his "Sweet and Innocent" contribution to the main band's Osmonds album, Donny did little more than dream that he might one day be unleashed across a long-player of his own. The success of that one song turned those dreams into reality, and The Donny Osmond Album was the result, a collection of songs geared almost single-mindedly to pushing the same teenybop buttons as "Sweet and Innocent" -- and to keep on pushing them across his sophomore set. Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny CD music contains a single disc with 20 songs. ...See Full Description

Osmonds Crazy Horses/The Plan CD (2008)
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny album for sale The third volume in the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, these are the albums that first confirmed, and then exceeded, the Osmonds' status as the teen dream of the early to mid-'70s, two albums that find them not only peaking as songwriters and performers, but also rushing ahead of both ambition and ability to deliver what remains one of the most misunderstood records of the age. Crazy Horses is killer. With Donny's tonsils now off making albums of their own, his presence here is confined to keyboards, allowing the elder Osmonds to fulfill the vocal duties, and to rock out accordingly. The mad synth boogie of the title track would be a classic rock staple had any other artist recorded it, and it's not alone, as "Hold Her Tight" and "We All Fall Down" follow its lead into seriously rocking territory. True, the ballads do spoil the show a little, but only from the point of view of a "serious" rock fan trying to justify this album's presence in his/her collection. The Osmonds knew who their most loyal fans were, and this LP remains geared toward the screamagers. Which is exactly how it ought to be -- and precisely why their next album, The Plan, fell down. A conceptual package built around the Osmond family's Mormon faith, The Plan does not lack for hummable melodies or toe-tapping rockers. Nor can you accuse the brothers of resting on their musical laurels, as they swerve from big ballad to hard rock, acid psych to grandiose soul. Where it falls down is through a lyrical vision that is simply so po-faced and so bent on proselytizing that, for once, the Knack were wrong. The little girls didn't understand, and the big ones didn't want to. Up to this point, the Osmonds seemed invulnerable. Now that wasn't so certain. ~ Dave Thompson

Portrait of Donny/Too Young CD (2008)
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny buy CD music Packaged together as part of the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, Donny Osmond's third and fourth albums are barely discernible from their predecessors, as the lad continued enjoying those halcyon days before his voice started to break by laying down 21 new performances, all guaranteed to get fan club hearts a-pounding. The signature attractions here are the massive hits for which Donny is best remembered, the worldwide chart-topper "Puppy Love," "Why," "Too Young," and "Hey Girl," but there is little to choose between these and anything else on the disc; quite frankly, every track here was a guaranteed smash, from a smartly melodic "All I Have to Do Is Dream" to a super-plaintive "Teenager in Love" -- and then there's "Last of the Red Hot Lovers," which is an odd claim for a 15-year-old boy to be making, particularly one whose religious beliefs surely disavowed all such activities. But such observations should not be of concern; frankly, these albums may not stand among the greatest artistic achievements in the Osmond family canon, but they are well-produced, professionally enacted, and -- as easy listening love songs go -- utterly immune to criticism. ~ Dave Thompson

Osmonds Phase III/Live CD (2008)
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny songs The second installment in the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, these are the albums that -- at least until "Crazy Horses" trampled everything else underfoot -- proved that there was more to the combo than those toothsome grins and some candyfloss pop. Opening Phase III, their sensibly titled third album, "Down by the Lazy River" was at least as solid as anything the rival Jackson 5 were then knocking out, and ushers the listener into an album that actually exceeds whatever demands the hit machine might have been making. Partially recorded at Muscle Shoals, and certainly benefiting from the surroundings, Phase III is the closest the brothers had yet come to recapturing their in-concert penchant for good-time rock & rolling, as "A Shot of Rhythm and Blues" shrugs off its over-candied arrangement, while an exuberantly bouncing "Yo Yo" ricochets off the ballads and establishes a mood that feeds effortlessly into the second of the albums included on this disc, 1972's Live. Recorded before "Crazy Horses" became their biggest hit yet, Live nevertheless captures all the hysteria of a great Osmonds show, a mixture of covers, hits, and medleys that never lets up. In terms of drama and choreography, the later Around the World double set is the definitive article, but Live preserves the sound of the siblings before it all became so smooth and slick, and is all the better for it. ~ Dave Thompson

Alone Together/A Time for Us CD (2008)
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny CD music Packaged together as part of the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, Donny Osmond's fifth and sixth albums maintain the lightweight sheen that characterized their predecessors, but does one sense things toughening up around the edges? You bet. Old enough by now to have a loud say in the kind of songs he was recording, and steering further away from the lackluster ballads that he was handling so adroitly earlier in his career, young master Osmond turns in more genuinely heartwarming performances here than at any time in the past -- his version of "Twelfth of Never" is all but definitive, "Young Love" and "Tears on My Pillow" likewise. And then there is his vision of "Unchained Melody," which may not deviate from any previous version but does prove the power of the Osmond vocal chords, even as you're still recovering from his glorious hijacking of "Are You Lonesome Tonight." Of course, you can have too much of a good thing, and whoever handed him "Hawaiian Wedding Song" to croon through was not doing listeners' ears many favors. But 20 songs slip seamlessly by and, of all the albums Osmond recorded while fame was all around, these two are probably the best. ~ Dave Thompson

Donny/Disco Train CD (2008)
Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny buy CD music Hey, you're a big boy now! Packaged together as part of the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, Donny Osmond's seventh and eighth albums can either be praised as the first true expressions of what really made the young man tick -- or as sad examples of just how fast and hard the entire Osmond machine was shutting down. Donny is the best of the two, inasmuch as he is still plucking material from wherever he fancies and giving it no more of a facelift than his vocal arrangement demands. Artistic development across his earlier albums was slow, to say the least; Donny, however, has a maturity that takes him far from the winsome youth who won fans' hearts with "Puppy Love," and there's an ironic edge to the album's sole hit, "Where Did All the Good Times Go," that you did not need hindsight to appreciate. Once, the Osmonds ruled the world. Now they were scrambling to even keep up and, if you really want to know how far they'd fallen, Disco Train should leave you in no doubt. Not, thankfully, as execrable as the brothers' near-simultaneous The Proud One, Disco Train is still the sound of Osmond seeking success wherever he can grab it, from the "look at me, still hip as can be" absurdity of the album's title, through to the indeed discoid stylings that are draped behind songs that he'd once have performed straight. The title track and, later in the cycle, "Disco Dancin'" are the saddest inclusions here, but the album as a whole is a bottomless pit, from which it would take Donny a long time to escape. ~ Dave Thompson
