Deas-Guyz features an entertaining mix of Motown, Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Rock, Reggae and Dance beats. The range of musical selections includes Motown sounds of the Temptations, The Drifters, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye; Bob Marley classics; the Lover's Rock style of Gregory Isaacs and Dennis Brown; to the Hip-Hop sounds of Lauren Hill and R. Kelly. The band officially formed in January 2000 (as Nu World Beat) and each member adds a rich and experienced musical background to the mix. The artists bring many years of prior experience performing professionally in other bands, at clubs, colleges, and at various festivals and private functions. The band currently performs regularly in Hilton Head Island, SC, at the Jazz Corner on Sunday nights and at the Hilton Resort. They often travel to other locations such as Louis's at Pawley's Island, Newberry, Mount Pleasant and Greenville in South Carolina and have ventured to several hot spots in Georgia as well. Saturdays are generally reserved for private functions including wedding receptions (their specialty), corporate and Property Owner's holiday parties, festivals and conventions. In the past they have performed in Chicago, Orlando, Las Vegas, Knoxville and several other locations all around the US. Mory shows through worship songs his love for God on his debut CD, 'Stay Here', released June 2008 on the MVC Music label. A native of Harvey, IL (a suburb of Chicago), was raised primarily by his grandmother and mom who has suffered with depression and mental illness all her life. Mory was an adult when he met his dad for the first time. Mory is a veteran of the US Army and has a BS from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Springfield.Mory who was taken to church by his grandmother, until he was old enough to go by himself, has been touching lives from a very young age while ministering to audiences of many different races and nationalities in the United States.
