Pornography album for sale Product Description
Pornography album for sale by Cure was released May 13, 2008 on the Vinyl Lovers label. For a band that's known worldwide as the premier purveyors of goth-rock gloom and doom (though hardly incapable of sparkling pop gems), it's no small thing to identify a particular album as their darkest, most disturbing sonic statement. Nevertheless, PORNOGRAPHY surely fills the bill. Reportedly created during a time of great psychological upheaval for group leader Robert Smith, it's a gloriously no-holds-barred existential angst-fest, from the very first line, "It doesn't matter if we all die." Not since Leonard Cohen's SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE had despair been so lovingly ladled into album form, but it's not just Smith's Prozac prescription that was upped during these sessions. Pornography CD music contains a single disc with 8 songs. ...See Full Description

| meaning of the title some folks wonder what the title means is it controversial sure but maybe not the way you think this album refers to images of death which is the actual meaning of the word imagine that. By untitled (long island ny) This review is for a different format. |
| awfully great If I have to name the best Cure album, Pornography would be the one. And if I had to say which song, I would have to say it is "Cold" I think this record demonstrates why the Cure had such devoted fans, the original ones, none of that disguised troupe claiming they love The Cure. The proof is that in Madrid, 1992, few knew "Cold" and even fewer cried to the notes of "Cold".... By a reviewer (Cáceres, Spain) This review is for a different format. |
| greatest album ever made! its jsut like the heading says. its a shame that this album is shadowed by the cure's pop music, made popular by non-true cure fans. "the figurehead" in my opinion is the greatest song ever written. "the hanging garden" is the only single off the album, but accomponies a terrific video. | A Twisting Road into Darkness and Beauty I was 12 years old the first time I heard this CD and it transformed me completely. I was never the same again. The dark brooding voice of Robert Smith is hauntingly painful, and his lyrics are nothing short of magnificent. If you are going to buy a Cure cd, this one should be first on your list. It will not dissapoint. Songs like "A Short Term Effect" and "The Figurehead" draw you into a swirling world of beautiful madness and the almost dancing quality of "A Strange Day" makes for a perfect climax. Buy this album!!! By a reviewer (Grayling, Michigan) This review is for a different format. |
| It Makes Darkness Cry It's one of the most griping and haunting albums ever made, i've listened for the first time some 6 or 7 years ago and that solo masterpiece on A Strange Day still pops up on my mind every once and while. These are the gothic Cure and the most beautiful ones ever. By a reviewer (portugal) This review is for a different format. |
