Born in Mossville, La. the illegitimate son of a player and a dime piece, JDG first found his place in hip hop at the age of 9 between 2 turntables. After mastering the art of mixing and scratching, he began writting rhymes to the instrumentals and started recording demos under the alias J Boski. He quickly earned a reputation as the fiercest lyricist around and regularly defended his title at local parties and gatherings. Discovering females and alchohol as a teenager led to a short hiatus from music, but he reamerged in 1993 over his own original beats as J Smooth and the Mossville Players. After selling enough cassettes to earn a record deal with Max-a Million records in 1994, JDG released the single "Only out for 1 thang".
