This four-disc set contains the Showtime series about a forensics expert who also is a serial killer. After playing a mild-mannered funeral home director in SIX FEET UNDER, Michael C. Hall makes a smooth transition to a serial killer in this Showtime original series. But the twist in this smart show is that Dexter chooses to prey only on other serial killers. As a child, Dexter was adopted by a cop (James Remar) who quickly realizes that his new son is no ordinary boy. Since Dexter is compelled to kill, his law-abiding father pushes him to choose his quarry in a way that will best benefit society. As Dexter grows older, he works as a forensic blood-splatter expert in Miami, giving him a close view of other murderers and their handiwork. Stylish and blackly comic, this drama is adapted from Jeff Lindsay's novel DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER. This collection presents the complete second season, in which Dexter finds himself the target of a manhunt by FBI agent Lundy (Keith Carradine), and questioning his code as a murderer. Dexter - The Complete Second Season Video Dexter - The Complete Second Season Movie Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Dark humor, blood, guts and gore Along with plenty of romantic entanglement to an otherwise painful character of a serial killer Dexter, his first entanglement isn't enough but branches out into a second with amazing results to the Dexter character's development.
A fine job of writing and producing yet another series that is captivating and enthralling while being a real nail biting ride into the dark side of a serial killer's mind and reasoning for his existence with a mission of "For the good of society" at heart of his dark heart.
Eloquently executed in all aspects of this drama I recommend both the first and SECOND seasons to those interested in a great escape from the normal hum-drum of TV. Submitted by drakar (Del Norte, CO) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Just brilliant I read all three Dexter novels before knowing that it had been adapted to TV. Frankly, I doubted that the internal monologues could be adapted.
I am very happy to be wrong: this flat out just works. Dex's sister is played differently to the books, but works wonderfully; luckily Doakes has not suffered the fate he did in the books, otherwise his character would not still be large, front and centre, and all the other characters are intriguing, too.
The show is darkly amusing, and I am delighted to find that I really like the main character. I will probably need counselling some time in the future! Submitted by kit (Canberra, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

awsome!! yes, i will admit this is one of the best tv series on right now. but let's not forget about six feet under. micheal c. hall continues to be an outstanding actor. this what real tv should be about...dark humour and clever writing. pretty much like all HBO and showtime shows. Best TV show EVER! This show continues to amaze me with it's brilliance. The writing is smart, the episodes are completely intriguing and exciting, and the characters are always great to watch. This is probably the best TV series I have ever seen. Season 2 is just as amazing as Season 1. Can't wait for Season 3 to hit DVD!!! Submitted by JH (Massachusetts) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$7.95 Not the 1986 Billy Crystal-Gregory Himes buddy cop movie of the same name, 2006's RUNNING SCARED is writer/director Wayne Kramer's (THE COOLER) take on the violent gangster crime genre. Paul Walker (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS) plays Joey Gazelle, a low-level Mafia thug who finds himself in the middle of a drug deal gone wrong, with a hail of gunfire and some dead undercover cops as the net result. Fleeing from the scene, Joey is charged with getting rid of one of the steel snub-nosed revolvers used to kill the cops. Instead, he stashes the gun in his own basement, just in case he ever needs insurance against his own gang. Unfortunately, Joey's 10-year-old son, Nicky (Alex Neuberger), and his best friend, Oleg (Cameron Bright), see where the weapon is hidden. Oleg, whose Russian mob-connected stepfather is physically abusive towards him and his mother, steals the gun to exact revenge. Shooting ...

Dexter - The Complete Second Season review
$8.35 Bloodthirsty vengeance is measured out in buckets, not spoonfuls for this hard-hitting vampire movie sequel. The story picks up right where the first UNDERWORLD left off, in the midst of a war between Lycans (werewolves) and vampires, with the gorgeous death-dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale), on the run with her vamp-wolf hybrid lover, Michael (Scott Speedman). This go-'round, there are flashbacks to three centuries earlier and the separation of two ultra-bad brothers, one vampire and one Lycan. The Lycan gets locked in a hidden tomb/prison and the feud begins. In the present, the winged vamp brother Marcus (Tony Curran) is determined to find his Lycan sibling and free him, which would wreak unimaginable havoc on the world. Selene's got to stop it, and the result is mayhem, with great gun battles, bashings and hackings, mysterious artifacts, orgies, and sneaking around in the dripping wet crypts and catacombs. ...

Dexter - The Complete Second Season DVD
$10.29 With his 2006 remake of Wes Craven's 1977 slasher THE HILLS HAVE EYES, French director Alexandre Aja manages to accomplish what many directors fail to do by making his film a definite improvement over the original. With Craven on board as producer, Aja sticks pretty closely to the first film's script and storyline, but with the help of a larger budget, special effects, better actors, and slick cinematography, creates a much scarier story. While the film's setting is contemporary, it maintains a 1970s feel in parts, paying tribute to the decade in which the slasher subgenre was born. With an interesting opening-credit sequence consisting of actual nuclear testing footage, we are told that the film's desert setting was the site of nuclear testing during the 1950s and ‘60s. Warned to vacate, the miners that lived there refused to leave, thus subjecting themselves to high levels of toxic radiation, ...
