Susannah's haunting yet dreamy voice is the essence behind the hampdens (susannah legge, gavin crawcour, jules hewitt) debut album, which was engineered by matt lovell (silverchair, eskimo joe) and produced and mixed in both melbourne and new york by victor van vugt (beth orton, pj harvey, nick cave). The hampdens music is about absence, loss, disillusionment, nuclear anxiety, unreachable glamour, burnt out sundays, and life as a social suicide . but then again it's also about beauty, youth, hope, re-enchantment, the washed-out dream-like promise of suburbia, falling asleep on the lawn in the sunshine, a stranger calling your name in the night, and plunging your hands in the warm earth. Having played with ben lee, evermore, john mayer, ray lamontagne, sarah harmer, george, rob thomas, little birdy, missy higgins & thirsty merc, be sure to catch the hampdens during 2008. Last Party album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer -- ...

Last Party album
$16.39 The band Whiskey Train formed in Medford, NJ, in June of 2006, when vocalist/guitarist Kenny Curcio decided to put some songs he had written on CD. Instead of recording himself with a guitar, he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth.Kenny found assistance in multi-talented piano/percussion player Johnny DeAngelis. At a very young age, Johnny played several years in his fathers cover band, and his passion for music was unmistakable. After recording a six song demo, and receiving vast positive feedback, they decided to form a band and continue to write their own music. In July of 2006, lead guitar player, and former jazz musician, Dominic Grosso was asked to join the band. Dom was enthused by the idea, and his excitement and unique style of play instantly gelled with the newly born sound that was coming to be. But there were still two pieces missing. In mid August of 2006 the finishing touch emerged; Bart Riley on drums, and Brett Riley on bass. Found through a mutual friend, the twin brothers added the backbone they were looking for. Having experience playing in successful bands and being musically gifted added an element that was nothing short of rock solid. The sound of Whiskey Train starts with their two lead vocals. Kenny's rugged voice combined ...
