Bleeding All Over You
$12.65 In the mid-2000s, Canadian indie-rockers Broken Social Scene proved to be something of a cottage industry, between their own records and such offshoots as Feist and Metric. The latter group, which features BSS keyboardist/singer Emily Haines, comes fully into ...

| Karen O & the Kids Where The Wild Things Are Vinyl LP (2009)
Bleeding All Over You
$12.05 For the WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE's soundtrack, director Spike Jonze recruited former girlfriend and frequent collaborator Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In turn, O drafted a who's who of indie rock talent, among them her chief co-writers Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Yeah Yeah Yeahs associate Imaad Wasif and her bandmates Brian Chase and Nick Zinner, all of whom perform under the aptly storybook name Karen O & the Kids. With their help, O uncovers new musical directions. Wildness abounds in her work with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Native Korean Rock, but neither band's music is particularly childlike. Here, she taps into a rainbow of youthful expression, from "All Is Love"'s pure joy to the tribal festivity of "Rumpus" to "Animal"'s feral folk, which puts O's ferocious scream in a completely different context than her other work. Yet on "Igloo" and "Sailing Home," her voice is gentler than it's been almost anywhere else--the only other time she has sounded so soft is on "Hello Tomorrow," the song she wrote for Jonze's 2005 Nike television commercial. Likewise, despite the wealth of indie rockers on it, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE rarely sounds self-consciously indie, even on the cover of Daniel Johnston's "Worried Shoes." Cox's xylophone gives the album a dreamlike feel, particularly on "Rumpus Reprise," while Zinner's guitar is unmistakable on the excellent "Capsize," which moves from a fierce tantrum to sweeping mystery like its own self-contained story. Balancing abstract pieces with more attention-getting pop songs like the adorable "Heads Up," WHERE ...

| Queens Of The Stone Age Era Vulgaris Vinyl LP (2007) Bonus Track
Bleeding All Over You
$20.15 This is Queens of the Stone Age's fourth full-length and second without founder Nick Oliveri. Perhaps the most ambitious and intricately made album thus far in the QOTSA catalog, ERA VULGARIS makes clear that this is Josh Homme's band through and through. The album still contains the band's trademark rock muscle and fierce riffage, as "Sick Sick Sick" and "Misfit Love" prove. But there's also a charming synthetic sexiness to tracks such as "Battery Acid" and "I'm A Designer" that Homme clearly revels in, and that one can't help thinking was slightly ...

| | Metro Station Vinyl LP (2007)
Bleeding All Over You
$18.09 Issued in early 2008, Metro Station's self-titled debut is the sound of emo-rock going pop. Given the HANNAH MONTANA connections of singer/guitarists Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus--who are older brothers of that Disney TV show's Mitchel Musso and Miley Cyrus, respectively--it's no surprise that the Hollywood-based band is highly accessible ...
| | Jazzology Poll Winners, 1964 Vinyl LP (2000)
Bleeding All Over You
$29.65 In 1964, George Buck's Jazzology label had a well-publicized popularity poll. This record date resulted, with all of the winners (except Louis Armstrong) being present for 18 songs, nine released on the original album while the remainder (mostly alternate takes) were later issued under pianist Don Ewell's name. The group was filled with New Orleans jazz veterans, most of whom were quite familiar with each other's playing (since the George Lewis band was the nucleus): trumpeter Kid Thomas Valentine, clarinetist George Lewis, trombonist Jim Robinson, pianist Don Ewell, banjoist George Guesnon, bassist Slow Drag Pavageau, and drummer Cie Frazier. They jam through a variety of New Orleans, Dixieland, and swing standards in typically ragged fashion. Valentine, who could be quite erratic, is particularly inspired (knowing that he actually came in second place in the poll), and this is one of Lewis' last good sessions. Easily recommended to fans of 1960s New Orleans revival jazz. ~ Scott Yanow

Bleeding All Over You
$9.99 Having been thrown out of school at the age of 14 for setting fire to her music teacher (he didnt meet her unusually high standards) the artist formerly known as Stacey Dowdeswell somehow managed to wangle a scholarship to the infamous Brit School (an institution that has so far managed to churn out the likes of Winehouse, Nash and Woon) and her path in life, it seemed, was set. After graduating, Stac garnered gainful employment in none other than Wah Wah 45s favourite distributors (and possibly the only company of its kind left in the UK at the time of going to press) Kudos Records. It was here that she first came to the attention of Messrs Servini and Goss, and after leaving Kudos and enjoying a spate living the drug induced life of a music television producer, things ...
