College students explore urban myth and folklore and encounter a deadly urban myth of their own in this 1998 film. Bonuses: commentary, featurette. On an ordinary college campus, students are being killed off one by one in ways resembling various urban legends, 25 years after a covered-up dorm massacre. One lone student must seek out the truth--while keeping herself from becoming just another legendary victim at the same time. The fine cast includes Tara Reid, Jared Leto, Rebecca Gayheart, Joshua Jackson, and horror legend Robert Englund as the professor teaching his students about urban legends. Jamie Banks's short film SILENT NUMBER, about a series of frightening phone calls on a stormy night, aired on the special Wes Craven-hosted episode of the Sci-Fi channel's EXPOSURE television series in October 2000. Robert Englund, the star of Craven's NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series, also appears in URBAN LEGEND. Urban Legend Movie Review Very under-rated Critics usually label this movie as a B grade horror flick. I really disagree. I believe this is one of the best horror flicks of the 90s. It was really intelligent how the storyline was based on Urban Legends and myths from the past. It was great how the movie was able to bring the Urban Legends to life and show that death scenes in horror flicks can be innovative and clever. The actors were great and were committed to making this movie one of the premier horror flicks of the 90s. This movie is also labeled as another typical teenage horror movie. Sure the movie does show the killer wieding an axe and stalking teens but the movie goes deeper than that. At the end you deal with the emotion of the killer and how she felt. All she wanted to do was extract revenge on the people who killed her boyfriend with an Urban Legend. Brad Dorrif (The voice of Chucky) was starred in this movie at the beginning as a gas station worker. Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger) was also in this movie and he played a proffessor. This movie does star great actors and it definately has an intelligent plot. I do admit that this film is very under-rated, but I alos think it's not a very scary film in terms of suspence and psychology. I give it a 3 out of 5 which makes it an average film. a must see horror movie This wasn't my favourite horror movie but it was better than Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer put together. Submitted by pussyballs63 (Sydney) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
One of the Most Underrated Horror movies ever! This movie is nothing short of a classic. I mean it did not bring anything new to the game of serial killing but it is one of the only other movies that I know that has a wicked ending like scream and some sorts. Most reviewers rated it as a scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer wannabe but it was nothing of the sort. Killings made at a college campus that were based on Urban Legends. The cast and crew were great and Jared Leto was obviously the star of the movie here. It rocked. Scary as hell and totally underrated. Easily up there with Scream and Friday The 13th and one of my all time top 10 favorite serial killing movies. Submitted by puertoricandj (buffalo, ny usa) Was This Review Helpful? $19.35 Based on a true story, this film is both a riveting courtroom drama and a first class chiller. A Catholic Priest (Tom Wilkinson) is on trial for homicidal negligence after performing a failed exorcism on Emily Rose, devout college girl (Jennifer Carpenter) now dead from assorted wounds and malnutrition. Laura Linney plays Erin Bruner, the priest's defense lawyer, and Campbell Scott plays the chief prosecutor, who argues persuasively that Emily was likely suffering from psychotic epilepsy and could have been saved with hospitalization and medicine. The demonic possession unfolds in a series of spine-tingling flashbacks and as it does so, the initially doubtful Erin is visited by evil forces and her own soul seems to be at stake. More than a criminal negligence case, the trial becomes about the importance of recognizing the limits of rationality and the possibility of a world beyond the visible. In portraying the extent to which wildly different belief systems have splintered modern society this film couldn't be more relevant or timely. Linney and Campbell are first rate, as is ...

$29.79 For five years, Superman (Brandon Routh) has been away from Earth, coaxed into space by a belief that Krypton may still exist. Finding nothing, he comes back to a changed world--not only has terrorism become rampant, but Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) has married, started a family, and won the Pulitzer for her piece "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." After a stop in Smallville to see his adopted mother (Eva Marie Saint), Superman is back in Metropolis, and Clark Kent has his old job back at the Daily Planet, with everyone still incredibly oblivious to his alter ego. But where there's Superman, there's Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), and he is likely to be planning something dastardly--in this case, using a piece of pilfered kryptonite to grow an entirely new continent that he will control.
Bryan Singer (X-MEN 1 and 2), armed with a script by Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, approaches the red cape with reverence for the lore of the character, and respect for Richard Donner's SUPERMAN (1980) and Richard Lester's 1980 sequel, films that ushered in the era of the modern superhero film. Singer's SUPERMAN is filled with melancholy, and not so subtly ...

Urban Legend film
$32.15 The filmmakers behind THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA take on another bestseller in the family film MARLEY AND ME. Based on the hit memoir by John Grogan, MARLEY AND ME chronicles the relationship of John (Owen Wilson) and Jen (Jennifer Aniston) as they face the challenges of marriage and work to start a family. By their side is their beloved dog, Marley, who can chew through drywall, got kicked out of obedience school, and never met a leg he didn't like. The cute pup's antics come to signify the unexpected challenges that everyone faces in adulthood, and the film is ultimately a paean to unconditional love; others may see Marley as the "world's worst dog," but throughout it all, he proves to be the couple's most faithful friend.
MARLEY AND ME plays like a modern day Norman Rockwell portrait with a little more bite, courtesy of the snark-friendly screenwriters and the title's wild mutt. The sets are sumptuous, with every shot lovingly lit to look like a Hallmark card. The winning lead performances help elevate the picture above its feel-good counterparts; Aniston ...
