(2 Customer Reviews)
On 2008's LIGHT IT UP, Rev Theory, previously known as Revolution Theory, offers up a hard-charging set of no-frills heavy rock. With a guitarist named Rikki Lixx and songs titles such as "Hell Yeah," the New York City-based band certainly isn't a cadre of Rhodes scholars, but its blunt-force delivery will easily appeal to fans of Hinder and Nickelback.

Light It Up album
$10.45 It's unclear precisely which definition of their name Hinder prefer: "to impede progress" or "the outdated midwestern slang term for the buttocks." Both fit, because Hinder is an unapologetic throwback to the post-Guns 'n' Roses era of hard rock, when dudes like Poison and ...
| | Five Finger Death Punch Way Of The Fist CD (2007)
Light It Up CD music
$14.35 As its name indicates, Five Finger Death Punch packs a serious sonic wallop. On WAY OF THE FIST, the band offers up its appealing brand of metal, which moves between hardcore, ominous black metal, and melodic metal a la System of a Down or Alice in Chains. Tunes like ...

| | Mudvayne New Game CD (2008)
Light It Up album
$11.29 Illinois headbangers Mudvayne have weathered a number of trends since their formation in 1996, and they've returned with perhaps their most forceful release yet, THE NEW GAME. The makeup and costumes of previous incarnations long since disposed of, they're now back to basics, focusing their sound to a finely honed hard-rock battering ram. "The Hate in Me" is a classic, sinewy funk-metal rager, with an unstoppable riff and hammering rhythm ...
| | Papa Roach Metamorphosis CD (2009)
Light It Up CD music
$10.55 With METAMORPHOSIS, its fifth major-label studio outing, the former nu-metal ensemble Papa Roach aims to reinforce the notion that it is a straightforward hard-rock group, a point hit home by the album's heavily posed cover photo. While the band is content to compete ...

| | Salty Dogs In New Orleans CD (2003)
Light It Up album
$13.85 The Salty Dogs, a New Orleans jazz band originally formed in the 1950s, at the time of this CD had not had a personnel change in nearly 30 years. Although a part-time outfit, with its musicians living in several different states, the band sounds quite tight with the players very attuned to each other's ideas. This particular project consists of 17 songs that celebrate the city of New Orleans. Whether playing spirited versions of warhorses (such as "That's a Plenty," "Bourbon Street Parade," "South Rampart Street Parade," and "High Society") or a few slightly obscure songs (including Paul Weston's "Crescent City" and Jelly Roll Morton's "New Orleans Joys"), the Salty Dogs find ways to make the music fresh and exciting. The music is ...

| | Asleep At The Wheel Kings Of The Texas Swing CD (2007) With DVD
Light It Up songs
$13.85 No one is going to dispute the titular proclamation of Asleep At the Wheel's KINGS OF THE TEXAS SWING, as the western swing tradition had been drowsing in the driver's seat for decades prior to this release. Recognizing that there's not a whole lot of trails left to blaze in the genre, the band opts to trade on its live reputation with this one disc audio/one DVD live collection.
Disc One finds the band tearing through Bob Wills classics such as "Choo Choo Ch'boogie" and "Take Me Back to Tulsa" with as equal ferocity as their takes on traditionalist fare like "Cotton-Eyed Joe" or the blues standard "Sittin' On Top of the World." The DVD offers video versions of many of the songs featured on disc one, but also showcases Ray Benson and Co. crackling versions of "Cherokee Maiden" and "Bob's Breakdown."
This spectacular live event by the Texas swing traditionalists is presented both on audio CD and DVD. Included are boot-stomping performances of their classics. The DVD includes the full concert, professionally shot with multiple cameras, 5.1 surround sound mixes, and special behind the scenes footage and interviews!
