I can stand UP to Cancer because I have walked throgh it! Others can simply give, but are you really sure you know what you are giving to? It is documented that within this 14 Billion Dollar annual budget, not even 10% make it to patients for practical needs asociaed with a Breast Cancer diagnosis (rent, utilites, transportation, medication, etc.). Patients can rest assure that there will be FREE flowers, massages, books, even wigs, but no help with practial necessites! We need to change this! Will all of the research out there and the Billions of dollars fundig it, the fiancial streams seem to be set aside for more walks, runs, and brunches. Have they considered that there is no research without breast tissue (the patient's)to study?Many of the Bankruptcies and Foreclosures that we see now are not necessarily because of poor buying decisions nor victims of Predatory Lending, but rather, because of illness and the unregulated Insurance Industry (companies like AIG), te ability to deny medical claims that would have helped sustain families in times of documented need. Trina Preach is a product of a case where she was employed full-time with both short-erm and long-term disability insurance, but was denied on both fronts. Because her treatment washighly aggressive, she needed daily booster shots and was unable to work for almost 2 years! Her family lost eveything to Breast Cancer (or to the insurance company)! Her primy residence, real estate investmnts, a dollar store, and much much more was all gone!
