Nuclear Rodeo album
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. ~ James Christopher Monger

Boasting the awesome "Chemical Warfare," a regular staple of Slayer's live shows, the Haunting the Chapel EP was a more crucial stepping stone in the legendary L.A. band's career development than many give it credit for. Issued in between the band's very promising debut and the following year's more sonically ripened Hell Awaits, ...

Nuclear Rodeo songs
$6.09 With its heavy R&B leanings, DAY BY DAY is easily one of gospel singer Yolanda Adams's most accessible and energetic records. However, this doesn't mean that her messages of praise get lost in the potent pop-tinged production; in fact, Adams is as passionate as ever about her faith, as revealed on the formidable opening track, "Victory," which immediately shines a spotlight on her powerful vocals. Renowned producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis contribute to a trio of tracks here (most notably the buoyant "Lift Him Up," featuring Donnie McClurkin and Mary ...
| | Soulfly Conquer CD (2008)
Nuclear Rodeo album
$15.65 The dulcet strains of the orchestral introduction signal a new era of Soulfly's creative energy. CONQUER shows a much rejuvenated Soulfly at the top of their game. No longer confined to the simple, groove-based metalcore shackles, Soulfly demonstrates considerable artistic growth on each and every track. CONQUER sounds as though Max Cavalera and his mob of highly skilled musicians have returned to their "roots," bringing classic death metal and grindcore into the 21st century for a new generation. It is rare for a band 10 years into its career to reinvent itself this way. With guest appearances by Dave Peters (Throwdown) and David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Soulfly has done exactly that, and CONQUER is a most apt title for the result.
The Soulfly tribe is once again on the warpath. Soulfly's sixth offering for Roadrunner Records, Conquer, may very well be the musical equivalent of the movie Braveheart. The songs -much like the warriors in the film- channel raw, unbridled rage through a cacophony of thrash guitars, infectious grooves, tribal polyrhythms and Max Cavalera's unmistakable, thunderous roar. On this record, Soulfly unleash a metallic mayhem unlike anything they've done previously. Conquer shifts from unrelenting, precise speed metal to slow, brooding doom. Once again, it's the legendary Max Cavalera who stands at the eye of the storm, uniting the musical tribe and acting as ...
