(1 Customer Review)
Surging with the release of his English album "Salsa Praise" in 2002, Puchi "broke the mold" and gave the Gospel Music market something it never really had (Salsa in English). In June of 2003, Puchi was awarded the prestigious honor of the New York Christian Radio's Artist of the Year. In 2004 he won the American Christian Award for "Best Latin CD," and has confirmed his ability to reach a diverse audience. His acceptance in both the English and Spanish markets granted him the ability to reach the masses. Puchi Colon's goal is to respond to the high calling that God has placed upon his life through music evangelism and worship. He is committed to excellence in producing high quality music, not solely for entertainment, but to lift up Jesus Christ and help bring faith to wounded hearts. Godspell, the second musical of the early '70s to be based on the life of Jesus Christ (following Jesus Christ Superstar, which hit the record racks, but not the stage first), was something of a sleeper, opening off-off-Broadway in May 1971, with an original cast album that belatedly became a big success in 1972 after "Day By Day" was released as a single and hit the Top Ten. By then, the show had moved to off-Broadway and was well on its way to a run that would exceed 2,500 performances (and eventually reach Broadway itself). Bell Records, a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures, had released that cast album, and the film company quickly put a movie version into production. Happily, composer Stephen Schwartz retained musical control, and the film, other than using various deserted New York City locations as its set, was quite faithful to the stage version. Five of the ten ensemble performers were retained from the original cast, along with all four of the original musicians, and Schwartz produced the music, as he had on the cast ...

$7.99 "For those seeking respite in the thoughtful songwriting and pop sensibilities from days gone by, search no further than the Layaways' new CD. Tapping into a diverse pool of musical influences, these 12 tracks evoke the spirit of early Beatles, R.E.M., and the best of the Cure..."-- PopMatters The Layaways don't come at you with a wall of sound. A wall of sound can be intimidating -- it can tower over the listener and threaten to fall on them. What we have here instead is more of a bed of sound. And a big, comfortable bed it is, too. It's a compelling mix of modern indie pop with classic vocal harmonies and new wave eighth-note rhythms. Think of Yo La Tengo covering the Cars. Or the Cure playing an Everly Brothers song. Better yet, give the disc a spin for yourself. The band started as a solo recording project, with guitarist/vocalist David Harrell recording most of the tracks in his home studio. In keeping with its "60s meets 80s" sound, the bulk of the record's guitar parts were played on a 1966 Fender Musicmaster, while the rhythm tracks were supplied by a mid-1980s Roland drum machine. Special guest Rob Newhouse (known as Rob ...

He acquired a taste for music at an early age due to his father being a musician and a man of the industry. His passion for music has grown since. When he completed his primary schooling, he moved on to The High School of Art and Design to further his education in the field of his choice! music. There, he found the school rich with connections and resources. He soon involved himself with a label by the name of Urban Disc Records. He acted as a promotional assistant and as a supporting artist to the label's main project: 'I. Q'. They soon merged into a two-man show, calling themselves 'Native Styles'. During his career with Urban Disc, Shae performed at many venues throughout the city such as: B-Cat, Lenox Hill Lounge, and Lyricist Lounge, among various others. Aside from performing for the label, he went out on his own ambition and participated in numerous freestyle battles/competitions on stage. He has since decided to focus mainly on his writing skills as a lyricist, though the competitions make him more essential as a versatile artist/performer. After completing all courses at The High School of Art and Design, Shae Parka was compelled to push harder for his career as an artist. He sought to increase his value by attending The Queens Borough Community College. There he took courses in Audio Engineering. He completed these, but wasn't satisfied with the depth of the material ...
