Los Angeles based jazz drummer, Peter Buck, announces the release of his debut CD as a leader and composer. 'Buck's Vibe' combines earthy, organic grooves with beautiful, thought provoking melodies performed by an incredible band featuring John Daversa (trumpet), Robby Marshall (tenor saxophone), Eli Brueggemann (piano), Edwin Livingston (bass), and Buck (drums). His extensive career in the music business includes performances with Ice-T, Michelle Shocked, Fiachna O Braonain,Stevie Wonder, Keb' Mo', Thelma Houston, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Sample, Donny McCaslin, Maria Schneider, Jim McNeely, John O'Gallagher, and Russ Johnson. Peter is currently touring with the great jazz and blues singer, Barbara Morrison. With his keen sense and expertise in music, he frequently gives performances and master classes at universities across the country with the Langston Hughes Project. His endorsements include Bosphorus Cymbals, Regal Tip Drumsticks, and Aquarian Drumheads. Peter Buck earned his Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Berklee College of Music and his Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California. Fresh and exciting jazz popPop jazz. This CD has been played many times by myself. One of the reasons for this is that it goes fast - only 27 minutes. Another reason is that it holds together extremely well all the way through -and for two sessions in a row. A third reason and more importantly, of course, is that I think this is good, damned good. Karin Inde writes lyrics and music herself. Furthermore, she sings, plays piano and produces the CD from her own recording company. She has an enchanting, personal voice, sometimes a bit bitchy and 'beautiful' at the same time, but always in tune. The ten songs are skilfully worked through, both from a musical and a poetic sense. The piano is used sparingly. Sometimes not more than one chord per beat; the drums play a strong role and carry the tempo with a clearly marked beat. The soft trumpet creates lovely colour and feeling. I am most fascinated by how much Karin accomplishes in this brief musical space. Only one of the songs lasts more than three minutes. I don't really consider how short they and the record are. It is the CD display that tells me this. The artist shows real guts as she strips the music down and frees it from unnecessary weight.
