Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles; Sensor Matic; CD Included John Travolta and Debra Winger star in this cowboy version of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, in which all the action takes place at Gilley's country-western bar, a rough-and-tumble honky-tonk in the heart of Houston. Travolta plays Bud, a young country farmer who moves to the city to find work at an oil refinery and finds love with Sissy (Winger), a cowgirl of easy virtue and spirit. The two country-western singles fall in love on the dance floor of Gilley's and quickly marry only to discover that their workaday life is harder to cope with than they imagined, lightened only by hard-drinking weekends of glory at Gilley's, where they're both local heroes, line-dancin' and struttin' their stuff until dawn. In between crowd-pleasing rides on the club's mechanical bull, Bud and Sissy struggle to keep their new romance alive despite the competitive attentions of a new cowboy in town, a bull-riding ex-convict (Scott Glenn) who has his eye on Sissy. James Bridges's hard-driving drama glimmers with the intensity of the super saloon, capturing the wild and rough life of the modern cowboy. The soundtrack features musical performances from such greats as Bonnie Raitt, Mickey Gilley, Boz Scaggs, Kenny Rogers, and the Charlie Daniels Band. The film was based on the 1978 magazine article by Aaron Latham "The Ballad of the Urban Cowboy: America's Search for True Grit" for Esquire magazine.
URBAN COWBOY is being reset for the stage and a possible run on Broadway by original writer Aaron Latham and director Philip Osterman.
Country music star Bonnie Raitt appears onstage as part of a Gilley's bar band.
The scene in which Wes (Scott Glenn) swallows and chews up a worm while drinking a bottle of tequila wasn't a part of the original script. It was a joke shot for dailies.
Patrick Swayze's wife and mother (Lisa Niemi and Patsy Swayze) choreographed the dance numbers.
The film marked the feature-film debut of actress Madolyn Smith. Urban Cowboy Reviews: "...Winger is outstanding....[Travolta] has a strong screen magnetism..."
-- Har., Variety "...URBAN COWBOY is the most entertaining, most perceptive commercial American movie of the year....First-rate..."

$7.79 Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker) returns again to Camp Crystal Lake, where he drowned nearly three decades before while some negligent camp counselors made out on the beach. Understandably upset by this turn of events, Jason continues to haunt his old stomping grounds, dealing death to those thrill-seeking teens who venture into the woods. This time around, Jason faces tougher victims in the form of a motorcycle gang and dons what is to become his trademark hockey mask. The original theatrical release featured 3-D effects.

| | Dolores Claiborne DVD (1995) Widescreen
Urban Cowboy review
$6.29 Eighteen years ago, the abusive husband of Dolores Claiborne (Kathy Bates) died under mysterious circumstances. His death was ruled an accident despite the suspicions of police detective John Mackey. Now the elderly woman she has nursed for many years has also died--with Dolores found standing over her body with a rolling pin in her upraised hands--and this time she is accused of murder. Her estranged daughter (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who blames Dolores for her father's death, returns to confront her with her resentment. Are things as cut-and-dried as they seem, or is there more to the story? After years of living a lie, Dolores Claiborne has to finally face the truth with her daughter--or risk losing her for good. Weaving skillfully between past and present, director Taylor Hackford delivers a deceptively adept melodrama, based on a novel by Stephen King and illuminated by Kathy Bates's bravura performance.

| | Freddy vs. Jason DVDs (2003) Full Frame; Widescreen; Subtitled
Urban Cowboy video
$8.05 Veteran slashers Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees join forces in this combination sequel to the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and FRIDAY THE 13TH series. The film begins with a quick recap of both Freddy and Jason's "lives," underscoring their respective motivations to kill and their distinct weaknesses. Freddy (Robert Englund) explains that the present children of Elm St. (including Monica Keena, Jason Ritter, Katherine Isabelle, and Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child) have no memory of him, and if they don't know he exists, he can't enter their dreams to kill them. Ingeniously, he reaches out to Jason (Ken Kirzinger), the brutish death machine from Camp Crystal Lake, to go on an Elm Street killing spree, hoping a lot of gory murder will jog the town's memory.
Jason is up to the task, quickly dispensing with teenager after teenager in suburban homes, cornfields, medical labs and, of course, the forest. Freddy grows jealous over Jason's body count, and so must intervene, setting off a battle royale between the two highly adored slasher heroes across dreamworlds and realities. In another post-modern twist, a character seemingly modeled after Jay from Kevin Smith's films appears in the movie, adding both a comedic element and another level of reality vs. fiction. FREDDY VS. JASON employs a variety of special effects to update these undying series, not the least of which is uniting their once disparate stories.

| | Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl DVDs (2003)
Urban Cowboy film
$15.45 Loosely inspired by the time-honored Disney theme-park ride, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is a swashbuckling high-seas tale directed by Gore Verbinski. When Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), an eccentric rogue, arrives at Port Royal, he barely avoids going down with his ship. Soon enough, he's in the market for a new one, but not before he saves the life of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), the beautiful daughter of the governor (Jonathan Pryce). This act of bravery sets into motion a sweeping adventure involving Elizabeth's childhood friend, blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom); a mysterious medallion; and a legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl. The Pearl's mottled Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) wants Elizabeth's doubloon necklace, and when she's kidnapped by the ol' salty dog and his crew, Sparrow and young Will must rescue her and find out the truth behind the ship's curse.
Verbinski's PIRATES is a welcome throwback to Hollywood offerings of yesteryear, filled with rope-swinging heroes, crusty villains, treasure hoards, swift swordplay, and even wittier wordplay. Screenwriters Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott have crafted one of the most clever action-movie scripts in many moons, and this gives the filmmakers and cast (especially Depp) plenty of room to cut loose. Although the skeletal pirates may be a bit frightening for small children, there's lots of humor to temper the scary moments, making PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL a nearly flawless fun film.

One day, a group of soldiers find a woman's shoe in the sand, and trace the footsteps leading up to it to a nearby village. Once there, the men undertake an exhaustive search of the female villagers, asking each one to try on the shoe to see who it fits. But that's where the similarities with CINDERELLA end, for once they find the perfect match, the woman in question will be in dire trouble, leading to some darkly comic moments as the film winds to its conclusion.
