Born in Houston, Texas, Cali Zack was raised in the suburbs of West Los Angeles. He has been embedded in the Hip Hop and Rap scene since he was ten years old. Standing out in school as the only 5th grader who knew Isaac Hayes and Bill Withers songs, Cali moved to Austin in 2002 to focus on being a recording artist. Releasing his debut Album, The Dank, which received good underground reviews and sales. Featuring obvious signs of growth, The Dank clearly illustrated Cali's ability to deliver biographical lyrics with a universal appeal that everyday people can relate to emotionally and situationally. He has been compared to Kanye West and Tupac Shakur in this sense as his lyrical content and progressive, yet not necessarily political content works very well.In 2006 Cali Zack released his follow up to The Dank, a collaboration called Cali Zack presents The Clean South, which features a set of Austin area artists including Bavu Blakes, Mak Man, Zeale 32, and Crew 54. Selling well out of stores and trunks Cali Zack has just re-released The Clean South and is planning a tour to Dallas TX, San Antonio TX, Austin TX, Odessa TX, Albuquerque NMEX, Tucson AZ, Los Angeles CA, San Luis Obispo CA, San Francisco CA, as well as Oregon State and Washington State.The Clean South part II is due out this winter and should feature many more high profile collaborations as well as a full length LP entitled Cali Zack as Himself.
