| | Belphegor Bondage Goat Zombie Vinyl LP Record Belphegor Discography of CDs
The Marquis De Sade's lurid writings have inspired many works of art, and not a few acts of cruelty, since their publication. BONDAGE GOAT ZOMBIE, the seventh album from Austrian Death/Black metal band Belphegor, qualifies as both. The dark eroticism of De Sade's work is augmented by Belphegor's usual mixture of Satanic and horror imagery, creating an over-the-top exploration of sex and violence intermingled. It doesn't hurt that the music is relentlessly brutal. For instance, "Sexdictator Lucifer" is a slowed-down grind with oppressive, industrial-strength riffing, and "Stigma Diabolicum" pounds at the doors of sanity with an insistent beat and throttling riffs.Kerrang (Magazine) (p.47) - "[T]he band have gotten their blackened death metal sound down and drive every track home with unrestrained hostility..." $11.18 It has the same name as the Crüe's 1998 compilation, along with 13 of the same tracks, but the 2009 Greatest Hits is a different beast than its predecessor, weighing in at 19 tracks instead of 17 and sequenced chronologically instead of the year-skipping hodgepodge of 1998. These are all improvements, as are the swapping of a 1997 version of "Shout at the Devil" for the original and the addition of the 1983 song "Too Young to Fall in ...
| | Devin Townsend Addicted CD (2009)
Bondage Goat Zombie music CDs
$13.58 Devin Townsend's maniacal/wacky tendencies duel with his instinct for skull-crushing heaviness on ADDICTED, the second in a planned trilogy of albums he's put together since retiring his ultimate metal band, Strapping Young Lad, a few years back. Anneke van Giersbergen, formerly of the Gathering, is Townsend's vocal partner throughout much of the album, creating a Lacuna Coil-esque effect as he roars and she croons and the guitar riffs ride almost disco- and techno-like rhythms. "Bend It Like Bender" is a particularly weird blend of metal and Hi-NRG, something Rammstein might come up with after a weekend of carousing in Berlin's most flamboyant discos. Other tracks, like "Supercrush" and the mostly acoustic "Ih-Ah," offer a kind of anthemic pop crunch that could rocket up the charts in an alternate universe. When he's not screaming his lungs out, Townsend is a hell of a singer, and his voice intertwines with van Giersbergen's in a very European way--many of ADDICTED's songs have the feel of a metallic Ace of Base, and that's not actually a bad thing. ...
| | Anthrax Among The Living CDs (1987) With DVD; Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Bondage Goat Zombie songs
$24.25 When Anthrax released AMONG THE LIVING in 1987, the band was a part of a then-burgeoning heavy metal sub-genre called speed or thrash metal. This was an inversion of glam metal. The band members wore worn-out jeans and T-shirts, their long hair was hairspray-free, and not a smudge of make-up was applied to their unsightly mugs. Their music was dense, borrowing speed from punk and hardcore and mammoth guitar riffing from metal, and featured thought-provoking lyrics. AMONG THE LIVING not only served as Anthrax's commercial breakthrough, but (along with seminal releases by Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer) the album brought this new musical form to the forefront.
The members of Anthrax were a bunch of comic-book-reading, jam-wearing heavy metal fans from NYC, and the music reflects the lifestyle. The band based it's U.K. Top-30 hit single "I Am the Law" on a favorite comic-book character (Judge Dread). "Imitation Of Life," a song about phony people that contains one of thrash metal's strongest riffs, was pointedly directed at '80s glam metal bands. The frantic "Caught In A Mosh" is an album highlight, as are "Indians" (which deals with the plight of the Native American), "N.F.L.," "Skeletons In The Closet," and the title track.

| | Dokken Under Lock And Key CD (1985)
Bondage Goat Zombie CD music
$6.19 Dokken wasted no time in issuing a follow-up to its breakthrough 1984 release, TOOTH AND NAIL. Although the band had been on tour constantly since the debut's release, Dokken went directly back into the studio, issuing UNDER LOCK AND KEY one year later. The new album bore stylistic similarities to its predecessor, although it was apparent that the members of Dokken were becoming better songwriters. Though the album's cover shot seemed inspired by the then-popular glam metal scene, Dokken soon rejected the look during the album's ensuing tour.
Like its predecessor, a single/video issued several months after the album's initial release ensured this record's commercial success--this time it was the melodic rocker "In My Dreams." Other highlights include the rockers "Unchain the Night" and "The Hunter," as well as "It's Not Love," the last of which was made into a promo video featuring the band playing on a flatbed truck while cruising Los Angeles. A prime opening spot on Judas Priest's ...
| | Dropkick Murphys Sing Loud, Sing Proud Vinyl LP (2001)
Bondage Goat Zombie music CDs
$14.79 The Dropkick Murphys are to punk what House of Pain was to rap. They bring an explicitly Irish sensibility to their chosen style (there are shamrocks on the album cover, and there's a bagpiper in the band, for goodness' sake) while remaining true to the conventions of the genre. Still, despite the occasional jig-like detour or pennywhistle flourish, the Murphys aren't trying to reinvent punk.
Their songs are presented the way punk was meant to be; loud, fast, hard, and simple. The driving guitars and pummelling drums that power these songs could be descended from the vintage Ramones (or at least Social Distortion) album of your choice. Admittedly, there aren't too many other punk bands that combine mohawks with kilts, or power chords with bodhrans, but that's what gives the Murphys their distinctive sound.
Recorded at The Outpost Studios, Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Dropkick Murphys: Ken Casey (vocals, bass); Al Barr (vocals); Marc Orrell (guitar, accordion, background vocals); James Lynch (guitar, background vocals); ...
