Greatest Hits Live album
$8.89 Recorded between 1965 and 1970. Includes liner notes by Mary Katherine Aldin.
Digitally remastered by Vic Anesini (Sony Music Studios, New York).
All tracks on 18 ESSENTIAL SONGS are taken from the three-disc box set JANIS.
Drawing inspiration from Bessie Smith and Odetta, Joplin developed a brash, uncompromising vocal style quite unlike accustomed folk madonnas. In 1966 Janis was invited to the Bay Area to front Big Brother And The Holding Company. Their Cheap Thrills, a joyous celebration of true psychedelic soul, contained two Joplin 'standards', 'Piece Of My Heart' and 'Ball And Chain', but she left the group in November 1968. Electric Flag members Mike Bloomfield, Harvey Brooks and Nick Gravenites helped assemble a new act, known as the Kozmic Blues Band. I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic ...
| | Best Of The Moody Blues CD (1997)
Greatest Hits Live CD music
$10.45 THE BEST OF THE MOODY BLUES contains vintage photographs and a conversation with Justin Hayward.
Recorded between 1964 and 1988. Includes liner notes by John Reed.
By keeping it simple and sticking to the hits, this collection successfully relates the story of this pioneering band. The Moody Blues began as a Gerry & the Pacemakers-like, R&B-influenced band fronted by sad-voiced singer Denny Laine, who is heard here on "Go Now." Laine was replaced by Justin Hayward, keyboardist Mike Pinder brought in a Mellotron, and the band ...
| | Very Best Of Deep Purple CD (2000)
Greatest Hits Live music CDs
$7.79 Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch and Bill Inglot (DigiPrep).
Rhino Records first attracted notice for its ability to assemble good, well-thought-out, best-of and greatest-hits compilations of acts who had enjoyed a chart placement (or two) without ever getting a proper hits package from their own labels; a little later Rhino started their "Very Best Of" series, which managed to be medium-weight but pretty thorough overviews of a lot of major acts (especially in R&B) from the past that needed a fresh look. But in 2000, when they released The Very Best of Deep Purple -- a band that needed no helping hand in the exposure area -- in conjunction with Warner Archives, that was something new for the company. And damned if Deep Purple and their fans, casual or serious, didn't benefit stunningly from Rhino's usual excellence on this CD. For one thing -- and this is pretty amazing -- this disc, with nearly 80-minutes of music, was the most thorough and thoughtful overview of the band's work ever released in the United States; EMI may have come close in England with Singles A's & B's but the sound here is better, ...
| | Tim Mcgraw Set This Circus Down CD (2001)
Greatest Hits Live songs
$5.85 SET THIS CIRCUS DOWN was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "Grown Men Don't Cry" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Don't hate Tim McGraw because he's married to one of the most glamorous women in contemporary country music (Faith Hill). Don't hate him because he wears a ten-gallon hat and sings about "The Cowboy In Me" while utilizing more image consultants than a Vogue fashion shoot. Hate him because he's so damn good at what he does. Whether you're an old-school ...
