When we inaugurated the Eliot Fisk Guitar Series at VGo Recordings, our idea was to give a forum for talented young players just starting their careers. He began at six years old and his first encounter with music was with the drums and upright bass in school. Jackson picked up quickly, moving from bass to learning guitar He learned songs the hard way, by playing along with recordings of various artists over and over until he got it down and could play it on his own! Jackson played in a rock band at age 13 along with along with his band mates who all were over 18 years old! the group was named " The Smoke Factory in Cortland, N.Y. He played for several years with them, and then became the bassist for an older family members country band. From there, Jackson went to performing as a Single Act! He became what was know in his local area A One Man Band. Jackson went to a recording studio in Binghamton, N.Y. and actually recorded all the background music and harmonies to his show! Jackson sang live vocals and played Bass live! Keep in mind, this was the early eighties so this kind of thing was unheard of! Jackson became very popular as a one man act and actually played the same bars and clubs that some of the local bands were playing, only for much less! As with any other artist, there are others whose work has inspired me. Among these are Vangelis, Peter Gabriel, and Pink Floyd. From the classical genre I have been inspired in different ways by such masters as Mozart, Chopin, and Debussy.Like a great nebula in the deepest realms of outer space, I believe the human spirit was crafted through divine intention. I invite you to embark on a spiritual journey of sound crafted by my intention to fulfill my life's purpose; bringing music into the hearts and souls of others.Music has always been with me. In fact, music runs deep on both sides of my family. I was about six years old when my father bought me my first violin. I have quite vivid memories of my violin teacher, Oscar Carrescia. His studio was and still is in Las Vegas, where I lived during most of the first ten years of my life. My family's return to México after living in the United States for nearly ten years cut my violin studies short to only three years. Even so, the effect they had on me was and remains indelible.Unable to find a suitable replacement for my violin teacher, I eventually gave up the instrument for good. It was then that the piano entered my life. Any melody I liked was a melody I sought to imitate by ear and eventually play on the piano. My mother's brother, Raúl, played in a band and always had keyboards laying around in his studio. I was always fascinated by them. I recall the first recording of electronic music I encountered—Isao Tomita's rendition of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.I eventually studied under several piano teachers, but Eva Peralta, my first teacher, impressed upon me the most.
