Godspell, the second musical of the early '70s to be based on the life of Jesus Christ (following Jesus Christ Superstar, which hit the record racks, but not the stage first), was something of a sleeper, opening off-off-Broadway in May 1971, with an original cast album that belatedly became a big success in 1972 after "Day By Day" was released as a single and hit the Top Ten. By then, the show had moved to off-Broadway and was well on its way to a run that would exceed 2,500 performances (and eventually reach Broadway itself). Bell Records, a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures, had released that cast album, and the film company quickly put a movie version into production. Happily, ...

| | Campbell Brothers Sacred Steel For The Holidays CD (2001)
Rend The Heavens music CDs
$13.19 If it weren't the exquisite taste and playing by the Campbell Brothers, this could all too easily fall into the trap of being close to a lounge Christmas album. But when you're working within a specific framework, it's hard to become too carried away, and seasonal albums don't lend themselves to the kind of jamming and unrestrained fervor so typical of a Campbell Brothers performance. So while a song like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" might swing and enjoy a good solo, it's to the point and clipped, with a distinctly jazzy tone. The closest they come to really sounding like themselves is on "Go Tell It on the Mountain," which is more gospel than Christmas anyway. They do move beyond Christian celebration with ...

Rend The Heavens CD music
$10.15 The Rising Sun Quest: Basically I'm a Hip Hop artist from Connecticut, which in my opinion is an untapped music resource. My style reflects the life of any real person living it the way most people do. We have so many artificial artists who just live their fantasy through their false raps or who are forced to fit an image. To me it's a joke and in my eyes it just ruins Hip Hop in general. Artists just follow TV and radio to see what's hot and pretty much base their whole style on what they see. I'm the opposite, I express what I feel and don't care if it's hot by someone else's standards. I've been writing music for over 10 years. I initially started writing in high school so I could perform in the lunchroom ciphers. I gained respect by always coming with punchlines that would have the crowed going wild. My first recordings were of me rocking over instrumentals on mix tapes, getting recognition for spitting battle type raps over industry beats. Over the years I've developed the ability to create songs with diverse content. My music reflects both how I'm living now, things I've been through and the workings of life in general. My music is very deep and though I have complex rhymes they are presented in a way that you can easily grasp what it is I'm talking about. I've been on stages in every major city in Connecticut and have performed in New York and Massachusetts's. My performances are live and I've been well received by every crowed I've ever performed for. I like to incorporate the DJ and B-boy element of Hip Hop whenever I can. Over the years I've been on many college ...
| | Raw Daddi Less Is More CD (2008)
Rend The Heavens music CDs
$12.69 Raw Daddi was born in the Bay Area but grew up in Maryland. He first started rapping in 1987 while in the seventh grade. His first performance was a junior high talent show. He wrote a rhyme about: being in junior high, the school, the trials and tribulations, the teachers, and the students. His older brother (Sekou the Misfit) produced the track on his Casio keyboard. After his performance, he received a standing ovation from the school, and it was a hit. This was his start and he has been rockin the mic ever since. While in Maryland, he also became good friends with Douglas Masters who would later met up again with him on the west coast. When Raw Daddi graduated from high school he moved back to Oakland, and attended college at CCAC. During his time back in the bay, he hooked back up with childhood friends Rotten Robbie and Roc who were doing music as well, and was introduced to new bay area friends Dundada and DJ Descend. He released 2 albums in the late 90's on Lionz Den Entertainment; 'Touch" in 97 and "Insomnia" in 99 both with Dj Descend handling the production. A couple of years later, he decided to move to Los Angeles. His main reason was to be closer to his family, such as his older brother who was becoming a well known slam poet, and to pursue a career in music and art. With his ...
