Technically Miley Cyrus's second solo album--the first being MEET MILEY CYRUS, the latter part of HANNAH MONTANA 2--2008's BREAKOUT finds the energetic young superstar drawing a distinct line between herself and her blonde-wig-wearing TV character. This shedding of MONTANA persona gives the outing the assertive feel of a debut, as readily heard on the triumphant title track and the jangly, fast-paced "7 Things." Cyrus also takes on Cyndi Lauper's 1980s hit "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," imbuing the giddy tune with the same kind of 21st-century sheen that No Doubt gave to Talk Talk's "It's My Life."
Naturally, Billy Ray's daughter makes room for some introspective ballads during the second half of BREAKOUT, with "Bottom of the Ocean" and "Four Walls" distinguishing themselves as moody and mature songs that expand Miley's teeny-bopper sound. There are no major curveballs on BREAKOUT, just accessible pop/rock tracks that showcase a steadily developing artist in the spotlight.

Rolling Stone (p.84) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "With BREAKOUT, Disney's queen bee finally has a sophisticated pop record under her own name....The songs feel genuine." Entertainment Weekly (p.69) - "BREAKOUT's best tunes let Cyrus be feisty without graduating to Avril-like levels of petulance: 'Full Circle,' 'The Driveway,' and the single '7 Things,' which veers from sensitive breakup song in the strummy verses to punky-pop kiss-off in the double-time choruses." -- Grade: B Miley Cyrus Breakout Songs Breakout Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Brainwash She is product and a negative one, this record is nothing else than a frisbee, beats, lyrics and vocals are worthless, she is a plastic doll, talentless and you parents should make listen to your kids to decent music and not this materialistic stuff, sorry cd universe i understand if you don't publish this,i know you have to sell record but perhaps you wanna keep your conscience clean and sell good music instead of some teen vixen.I pity her by the way. Mileys Breakout! Well i was obsessed with her 'meet miley cyrus' cd so i guess its gonna be the same for this cd too!
1. Breakout - The title track, great girly pop/rock and it gets better every time you listen to it 'oo all over again' - 8/10
2. 7 Things - Great choice for the first single, very catchy upbeat country/rock feel - 10/10
3. The Driveway - Dont worry this is just miley singing on this one! Very addictive you will putting this one on repeat - 10/10
4. I was a little worried about her covering this but shes really 'mileyfied' this classic - 9/10
5. Full Circle - Not my favourate but still a good track and nice to sing too - 7/10
6. Fly On The Wall - Love this one, probably my favourate on the album (well, at the moment) miley shows us a different side to her and its awesome - 10/10
7. Bottom Of The Ocean - Lovely soft ballad although the message is very sad - 10/10
8. Wake Up America - Miley expresses her feelings about issues ongoing in america, inspirational but kind of cheesy. Reminds me of her alter ego Hannah Montana - 6/10
9. These Four Walls - Her vocals in this are very good, nice song - 9/10
10. Simple Song - This will relate to a lot of people, another that will probably be on repeat. Love it! - 10/10
11. Goodbye - Great way to end the album. Nice soothing tune and vocals - 10/10
12. See You Again (Rock Mafia Remix) - It was brilliant the first time round and its an okay remix but still sounds like the original too much - 10/10
13. Don't Walk Away (Bonus Track) - Cool Music, similar to clear on 'meet miley cyrus' but great - 10/10 Submitted by fayejhere (Yorkshire, U.K) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 10 of 17 found this helpful.
Miley does it again! I loved Miley's Breakout! I think she did a great job with this CD! It has great dance beats and wonderful slow songs to complement. The reason I didn't give a full 5 stars was because I thought she put in too many slow ones. I've always known Miley/Hannah to bring lots of great dance beats to the table. I think she did with Fly on the Wall, 7 Things, Breakout, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I just wish she would've added a few more. But I would totaly recommend this to anyone! Breakout
$10.39 Principally recorded at The Theater Studio & Mindswerve, New York, New York.
Mindless Self Indulgence's brilliantly named The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy collects more of the group's outré, hip-hop-tinged industrial thrash. Singer Urine's bizarre falsetto sounds like a sped-up Jello Biafra, especially on tracks like "Boomin'" and "I Hate Jimmy Page." The album's 30 songs -- which sport titles like "Dicks Are for My Friends," "Cocaine and Toupees," "Faggot," and "Royally Fucked" -- are all pretty much slight variations on the group's fast-and-shocking style. Though The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy doesn't quite deliver on the sleazy humor of its title, Mindless Self Indulgence does provide a quick, sensationalistic fix for fans of groups ...

| | Best Of Govi CD (2005)
Breakout
$11.69 This is an 11-track tour through the highlights of Govi's four albums for Higher Octave Records. Anyone who has heard the German-born guitarist's stylings will have a sense of what's included here: This is light, soothing, guitar-centered music that owes a debt to the flamenco tradition, yet also has one foot firmly planted in New Age and easy-listening territory.
Govi's compositions are quite tuneful, and never accelerate beyond a pleasant, mid-tempo groove, keeping just enough exotic flavor to make the music alluring and seductive. Govi excels at gentle, swaying ballads, like the evocative ...
