Thrillseekers: Nightmusic Vol. 3 album
$13.49 The most remarkable thing about Richard Kelly's directorial debut, Donnie Darko, is its sheer tenacity. After suffering the fatal blow of a post-September 11 release date, the ominous film, which features the destruction of a sleepy suburban household by a falling jet engine, ...

$13.39 Recording information: 05/12/2007.
ABOUT THE "LIVE" CD: "Not many of us left of the old school, but they don't come any better than Big George Brock." After this brief testimonial by 80-year-old Sonny Payne of Helena, Arkansas' famed King Biscuit Time radio show, Big George Brock tells the packed house that he's "here to please you, not to tease you." Then, he goes on to prove it throughout this brand-new, hour-long live album — the much heralded follow-up to Brock's Blues Music Award-nominated "Round Two." After 67 years of singing blues and playing harmonica, 75-year-old Brock IS the blues. Best known for his high-energy, "step-back-in-time" live shows, it's fitting that Brock recorded this incredible concert performance on the eve of his 75th birthday at world-famous Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi — his old stomping grounds. Brock mixes his own fine originals with highly-personalized covers, the band is hot and the results are magical.ABOUT BIG GEORGE BROCK: Big George Brock may well be one of the most underrated ...

| | Gipson & Fitz Trio Rail Car CD (2008)
Thrillseekers: Nightmusic Vol. 3 songs
$16.45 Gipson & Fitz Trio To call it bluegrass is just too easy! \"It would be a tremendous mistake to write off the Gipson and Fitz Trio\'s debut cd, \"Rail Car\" as \"just another bluegrass record.\" Certainly, the elements of classic bluegrass are here: rolling banjo, chopping mandolin, delicate vocal harmonies, and hot licks abundant. But to call this music bluegrass is just too easy, and it does a disservice to the men who created it. No, this music is something else, more than bluegrass. Bluegrass, in the minds of most, is the classic sound of Bill Monroe. Not to deride that master, but times have changed. Eras have swept away and the genre has evolved. John Hartford pioneered the modern Americana movement, and the Gipson and Fitz Trio are proudly carrying on the tradition. \"Rail Car\" is intertwined with tunes crafted by the group\'s principle song writers, Brant Gipson and Mark Fitzharris. The original tunes sparkle with traditional flair, but there is a wink and a nod to modern times and many musical genres. A close listen to the vocal harmonies reveals a love of early 70\'s rock. The guitar and mandolin lines often pay tribute to jazz and blues legends. And on the album\'s swan song, \"Gotta Go,\" there is a verse cleverly dedicated to a wide variety of music genres. Then, there are the cover songs. Cover songs on record are often an unappealing mess. Gipson, Fitzharris and upright bass man extraordinaire, Billy Cory, have spent years working through countless versions of other people\'s songs in their live show. This dedication to originality has yielded two of the best cover versions in a long time. Their take on \"Columbus Stockade Blues\" adds an urgency and yearning to the mix, and their version of \"Summertime,\" one of the most covered songs of all time, has rarely been done better than it is in this jaw dropping slow/fast ...
