The 1993 film about the King of Halloweentown discovering Christmas Town. Tired of being an object of fear for small children, Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, sets out to replace Santa Claus and oversee Christmas festivities for a year. A trio of ghastly ghouls is assigned to the task of kidnapping Saint Nick; meanwhile, Jack attends to the Yuletide activities, giving them a frightful new twist in the process. Tim Burton's stop-motion animated feature finds Pumpkin King Jack Skellington thinking the grass is greener over in Santa Claus's holiday. He marshals all his goblins and ghouls to take over Christmas, but alas--poor Jack belongs to Halloween. An amazing visual and musical feast that should be seen at least twice to catch all the kinks and quirks in the nooks and crannies. Academy Award Nominations: Best Visual Effects. Classic! This movie is a classic for all ages. Though I'm not particularly a fan of musicals, I find myself singing some of the lyrics in my head from time to time. Excellent purchase. Submitted by jdflippyskeate (Carlsbad, NM, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, ...

Nightmare Before Christmas film
$15.19 For both comic book fans and those who can't tell the Green Lantern from the Green Arrow, IRON MAN is the type of summer blockbuster whose appeal lasts far beyond the season. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a billionaire playboy and genius who puts as much effort into chasing skirts as he puts into chasing his next big idea. A trip to Afghanistan to sell weapons quickly devolves into chaos, and Stark finds himself at the mercy of a warlord who wants him to build a missile. Instead, Stark creates a powerful suit of armor, turning him into Iron Man and allowing him to escape. When he returns to America, his assistant Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow), friend Rhodey (Terrence Howard), and right-hand man Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) all marvel at the change in the man they knew.
IRON MAN is the first film to be self-financed by Marvel Studios, and they should be proud of their freshman effort. They didn't take any obvious routes with choosing the cast or crew, and it pays off. Director Jon Favreau, who also has a small role in the film, is best known for directing ELF, but his first action-driven effort is nearly flawless. Casting Downey ...

Nightmare Before Christmas DVD
$27.79 It all starts when in the John Dahl-directed JOY RIDE when two brothers, Lewis (Paul Walker) and Fuller (Steve Zahn), driving home cross-country and bored, use the CB radio to play a mean-spirited practical joke on a trucker that they regret immediately and forever. In JOY RIDE 2: DEAD AHEAD, the sadistic and shadow-shrouded truck driver Rusty Nails has hijacked the CB airwaves once again, brutally reclaiming the road as his personal playground of slaughter. When four friends call out for help after their car breaks down during a cross country trip to Las Vegas, it looks as though professional mutilator Rusty has found himself some new playmates. Kyle Schmid (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE), Nicki Aycox (JEEPERS CREEPERS II), and Nick Zano (FINAL DESINATION 4) star in the high octane-sequel.
