Eno's last glam-pop album before devoting himself entirely to ambient experimentation, BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE showcases two sides of Eno's musical personality. The first half of the disc is characterized by floppy, pop-tinged romps reminiscent of his earlier albums (and heralding later Eno-piloted projects such as the Talking Heads' SPEAKING IN TONGUES). Tunes like "Backwater" and "King's Lead Hat" (a song whose lyrics are reputedly about the Talking Heads, the title an anagram of the band's name) feature bouncy beats and keyboards, silly, riddle-like lyrics and Eno's Muppet-ish vocals. The second half is considerably more subdued: the tender, airy feeling of tracks like "Julie With" and "Spider and I" indicate Eno's softer, abstract, synthesizer-dominated direction. Taken together, the fine tracks of this disc frame two sides of Eno: the pop songster and the ambient composer.Mojo (Publisher) (p.123) - 4 stars out of 5 - "'No One Receiving' and 'Here He Comes' are simply great pop tunes." $11.99 The Cinderella-esque climb from lo-fi indie cult artist to Grammy nominee/major label darling must have been a perilous one for Smith, who makes the leap to the big time here after three well-regarded albums on small labels. He's lost none of his bite, though. The production values on XO may be slightly higher, but Smith's vision remains undiluted.
The production, centered around acoustic guitar augmented by keyboards and lush vocal harmonies, recalls pop ...

Before And After Science CD music
$13.29 Born to a musical family of composers and performers, Serouj Baghdassarian a.k.a. C-Rouge developed a passion for music back in his childhood years. During his teen age, C-Rouge began drawing interest in electronic music through the art of DJing. Playing in various school parties did not quench C-Rouge's musical thirst, so he decided to venture into music production. Starting off with remixes of such known hits as TATU - 30 Minutes and Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eyes, C-Rouge was crowned winner of Radio One's 'Mix It' competition, consequently receiving intense airplay for his productions. This enticed C-Rouge to capitalize on his success by working on his very first album. Though the album was produced on amateur software, experimenting with music theory taught C-Rouge how to compose and arrange electronic dance music like a professional.A key turning point in C-Rouge's musical career was getting introduced to Trance music by the likes of Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Alphazone, and Ian Van Dahl. Upon discovering this dreamy energetic sound, C-Rouge set the next objective of his production path: a second artist album. Being deeply influenced by his Armenian belonging and by Armenian music from the likes of Ara Gevorgian, Djivan Gasparyan, and his own father Seto Baghdassarian, C-Rouge decided to dedicate his forthcoming album to the Armenian cause by carefully blending modern Trance sounds with ancient Armenian melodies - genoTrancide was born. First experimenting with Ara Gevorgian's Ani, C-Rouge's remix amassed massive feedback, ranking #1 on ctgmusic for a whole month and getting featured on the website's monthly mixed Trance compilation. Next up came C-Rouge's Duduk-inspired track Groong, first seeing the light of day on the Armenian Genocide tribute compilation Silent Propaganda, and later becoming his very first release when it was signed by Vibe ...

| | Medicine Hat Live CD (2004)
Before And After Science CD music
$27.85 Medicine Hat was formed by Steve Loveday (Guitar) and Garry Bowler (Drums), who, along with New Zealand born vocalist Mark Jackson, fused their respective roots into the band's hard driving yet emotive genre-defying style. After recording a demo CD, the band secured a deal with 'Gut Records', (famous label for 'Aswad' & 'Space') and recruited a new country-picking guitarist Mark Wright. In the famous Nam's Studio's in Olympia, London, they recorded the EP 'C'Mon Here'. A video was filmed and received plays on VH1, the ITV Chart Show & MTV. Meanwhile, the band played raucous sessions on Virgin radio, Radios 1 & 2, and GLR. Gut Records and Medicine Hat parted company but even without a deal the band finished the year opening up the British Music Fair at the Wembley Conference Centre. The band retuned to gigging and getting support on the U.K. club scene. Vinyl Records put a live version of 'C'mon Here' on a compilation album called 'Cowpunks', The band barnstormed their way through a set at the launch party in Kensington and a shaken Johnny Walker (BBC Radio 1) declared on stage, "Now that was country music with attitude!"One spring, with the new CD 'Bone Dry', the band took a trip to the MidWestof U.S.A. Their trip was a huge success and upon their return received call from Way-Out-West Records saying that they had heard the 'C'mon Here' EP, liked it, and wanted to sign them. Out went original bassist and in came Lol Dalziel (whose frenetic style compliments the bands dizzying guitars) and James Whiteman ...
